Hello everyone!
I am following with interest the progress and advances of Nothing. I have always been intrigued by the brand and its products, I was convinced when I bought the Nothing Ear (2024). They are devilishly well finished, the listening quality is excellent and the software part is a total success; it is even the best I have known.
Seeing the development and innovations of Nothing, I thought that Nothing would perhaps be a brand likely to hear and carry out an operation such as daily blood sugar monitoring.
I am a type 1 diabetic and I need to know this information regularly. I do a lot of sport and I have a physical job, so I look at it almost as much as the time. It allows me to know when to regain strength before the breakdown.
Like many, I have a blood sugar sensor. I use Freestyle Libre sensors. From what I know, the other popular brand is Dexcom.
To track blood sugar, you just install an app, connect the sensor to it and that’s it: your blood sugar is displayed.
The problem: you have to systematically take out your phone, unlock it and open the app. Is it the end of the world? Certainly not. It’s much better than pricking your fingertips. Is it practical? Come on. It’s 2024. It’s not practical.
I don’t expect Nothing to produce sensors and do medical, but I would like to know if Nothing could integrate blood sugar into widgets or home screens and smartwatch faces.
There are apps to try to have that, like Gluroo or G-Watch App. I am grateful to their creators, but the integration is not perfect, far from it. The blood sugar update is not great either.
Would it then be possible to have a Nothing OS widget that retrieves real-time information from the Freestyle Librelink app, for example? To have a nice integration of blood sugar on the lock screen? To consult blood sugar on a nice watch face, next to the heart rate and other?
That would be a big step forward. No one seems to offer it and it’s a shame.
In any case, if you could integrate this into NothingOS, I’d buy the Nothing set right away. And I don’t think I’d be the only one interested.
Of all the major competent brands, I imagine Nothing is the most capable of achieving this. And it wouldn’t be nothing.
