hrry Android Os can’t achieve that. You may think I’m pessimistic but it’s the truth. Android is so fragmented that a single company can’t make their own ecosystem like apple. Samsung tried, OnePlus tried, but more or less they never achieved that success what apple have. On Android, brand specific software or even hardware is just waste of money and time for the company.

Sourav_Satvaya I agree with you, Sourav. It’s more realistic vs. pessimistic. I had a Huawei with Huawei Share and did I ever use it? No. Because, the likelihood of me being in a room with another Huawei user and, wanting to share files… almost zero. Different for iPhone as, where I live in the UK, every 3rd person has one. Fragmentation, marketshare, etc, etc all play a role. That’s why Quick Share or, an Android standard across all Android devices is a better route vs. self developed solutions.

Google already has nearby share. and theres no point in having app like that. this will create huge compatibility issue with other phones. what if you wanna share file which non-nothing phone? they are supposed to buy nothing phone? no right?
apple has it coz theres no competition for apple. theres only IOS but in android there are so many UI and systems. they need to build something which will work like butter.

Anonymous297 there is no point in saying no competition for apple.Take each and every android phone there is something better than ios. Android is a real competition for ios.

And samsung has specific apps for there users to share app which 2x faster compared to quick share . So it would be good if users have an app for sharing between nothing specifically and quick share separately.

BassimBinYoosaf you should consider the brand and how big it is. you need huge userbase to make something exclusive like that. samsung is here from years. you should see one ui 6.1 and upcoming 7. you will realise it.

Anonymous297 Why should I consider that I am a user and the basic interest of the user is get what they want. They are no more a new brand. We as a user ,we only needs to consider our needs a brand if it is new or old it should be capable to move according to the needs and trends of the user. So we told our needs that’s it.

BassimBinYoosaf Android is a real competition for ios.

You know what Android’s biggest competetor isn’t iOS, it’s Android itself. Different OEMs are competing with each other to sell their devices, even they have made their own flavour (Nothing OS, One UI) so that every company can distinct themselves from each other.

BassimBinYoosaf samsung has specific apps for there users to share app which 2x faster compared to quick share . So it would be good if users have an app for sharing between nothing specifically and quick share separately.

Recently Google partnered with Samsung and rebranded Nearby Share as Quick Share and now it’s same. Device specific feature would have worked if it were 2015-16 when AOSP features weren’t good and OEMs had to develop their own features for convenience, but not anymore. As you were talking about Samsung, let’s talk about their “S Note” app, which is a very good note taking app with lots of features but that app is only available on Samsung devices. For example you have taken hundreds of notes and then decided to change your device, then what? You can’t access those notes because of the Samsung’s proprietary app. But with Google Keep you can access notes on any device, even on PC.

BassimBinYoosaf if you dont want to consider then go make your own phone. this is not childs game that one random person came requesting feature which other brand provides. and company will make decision. switch to samsung and ask samsung to make phone how you want and features you want. this isnt candy shop you will ask add this add that. you need to understand how things work when brand adds new feature. iphone still gives 60fps in 2024 with phone which costs 80k. still people buy it. stop complaining mate or ask dumb stuff. enjoy what brand gives and does. if you have issues that brand is not giving what you want , switch to other brand. no one is forcing you to use nothing.

So many iphone users want 120 refresh rate but yet people DO BUY that. no matter how much they cry about it that apple is not giving. you need to do MBA to understand this, this is so basic but idk why hard to accept the reality. you not in hotel that you will say oh I am paying I will want the way I want. you are not the only one NOTHING USER. youre not kind that things will happen coz you want. idk what you smoking mate or where you getting the ego like I am user I want what I want and brand should do it. youre being a child here. pls grow up.

Anonymous297 I am a nothing user and I am more focused on features I need and not the age of the brand. And I please don’t offend. I told an interest based on the latest devices and the features I felt would be good in my phone too.I am saying my need and as you can see I’m not the only one who are requesting for this there are people who require this. And I told my need as a user let nothing decide if they want to bring this feature or not

BassimBinYoosaf pls try understand nothing brand is not open source project. asking for features and all is fine but doesnt mean you will get them, they have to check compatibility with hardware too. nothing phone 1 comes with SD778, CMF is mid range. not every feature can handle all the operations with limited hardware. you cant record 4k 120fps on SD778. its common sense mate. not every phone will support the same feature with available hardware. for example, nothing gave 3 years major upgrade coz that processor can handle that much only. it wont handle lifetime android updates, phone will be die coz of load. people ask for feature like they want it but theres too much happening behind releasing a single feature. and about the age of the brand, that thing absolutely matters man, if new brand is there it cant do experiments and add remove stuff like that. apple can do it coz apple knows theres no other IOS device. in android thats diff story, there are so many brands for android.

                BassimBinYoosaf

Why make a specifc one if theres already Quick Share for Android which is compatible on a wider array of devices. Users may want one thing of course, but there are costs on development of these features and is basically rewriting something that is already available. This would be a waste of time and resources for the company.

Vinxent I agree with this, unless Nothing will create an ecosystem consisting of desktops/laptop with NothingOS, tablet, phones, and other gadgets there’s no point in creating new sharing apps. Google Quick Share works fine for transferring file between Androids and also windows

                  BassimBinYoosaf

Why degrade it to only Nothing users if it can already do it with everybody else. Kinda pointless isnt it.

The goal of nothing is not to be another apple that locks their customers down to their products to be useable with only their products.

Thats not “Making Tech Fun again”

                  6 months later

All Androids have a feature to share file between them called Quick share. But most of the mobile brands have there own ecosystem of sharing files say for example Huwaei’s Air gestures based file sharing, Apple’s Airdrop,Oppo’s peer to peer transfer etc. We Nothing users expect Nothing also to bring something new like these features for sharing. The Quick Share is fast enough but at the same time if there is something for Nothing it will bring a Nothing ecosystem where Nothing users can share files easily without much using of the phone. Say for example if I want to share a file with the help of Quick share I should on quick share change the settings to everyone/contacts, then we need to locate the file and send them . But in other case if Nothing has its own ecosystem just turn on Nothing share and send the file. Like it saved like atleast 2 taps which makes the user experience more easier.

Atleast we user can get some sort of share features taking advantage of the NFC which is present in all the Nothing phones .

                    BassimBinYoosaf Hey
What you’re describing is exactly what Quick Share is, a simple and fast solution to transfer files across all Android devices.
While certain brands have their own system, it’s mainly because they distribute Phones in countries where Google isn’t supported and they need alternative.
So far Nothing ecosystem is only Phone which all supports Quick Share, I’ve seen your concerns about a multiple steps process but you can actually set Quick Share to run all the time for “everyone” if you want.
NFC was actually used in the Android 4 era to transfer files over Bluetooth which was slow, Quick Share use Wi-Fi to transfer files which is the fastest wireless method to transfer files, also good to note that not every phone use NFC just like the CMF Phone which is included in that “Nothing Ecosystem”.
