Hello!

Apple’s annual event is quickly approaching, happening in less than a week - 12th September to be precise.

During this event, they’re expected to unveil their next iPhone, which many have dubbed the iPhone 15 series because it’s the only new device they’re expecting to launch.

I guess the biggest talking point in the build up to the event is USB C cables replacing Lightning, for the EU market. I wonder if this is something they might roll out across their entire next series, worldwide, or if it will just stick to the EU market.

What are your expectations for the event? What are you hoping to see?

Let’s hear your opinions before the event and then after, we can regroup to see how many of us got things right, as well as discuss our thoughts about the latest ‘innovations’ from the fruity company.

EDIT: Watch the live stream here

USB C is certainly one of the things im intrigued to see. This is Apple don’t forget and they always have a way of putting their own spin on these features even if they’re not necessarily “new”. I think it will be all models internationally but I think they might limit speeds on the regular 15 and 15 plus. They’ll give the higher data transfer rates a special name too.

Derren Introducing our revolutionary new USB C cable that is a one of it’s kind, delivering speeds of BLAH BLAH BLAH…I can already see it happening lol

    I’m just glad that

“Hey, do you have a cable I can borrow to charge my phone?”

    iPhone or Android?

Will no longer be a thing 😁

Derren I’m really curious about this too, what clever apple justification will they provide for this change 😅 Not expecting a slide saying ‘the EU made us’ 🤣

Rob ⚡️ no definitely not 😂 they’ll hype it up and emphasize how useful it will be to the user. Basically act as if nothing happened and advertise it as a great new addition.

The rumours are normal iPhone 15 will get USB 2.0 and the iPhone 15 Pro will get thunderbolt 4.0, one is inadequate another one is overkill. Nevertheless no more lightning cable should be good for consumers.

Derren Iphone 15 will be the fastest charging Iphone ever made, 30W fast charging groundbreaking speed (lmao). I see this coming also

I still hope to see a new Mini, I love this size

And still want a Nothing Phone (Mini) 😉

Nothing to hope from Apple to be honest. Minor changes to be expected. The only thing worth noting is the action key that will replace the mute switch as far as we saw from the different leaks. Wait & See…

Remi F Ah I’ve not heard that one…interesting I wonder how much customisation this would bring…

Rob ⚡️ probably not much, as it’s Apple and it’s a closed point of vue. But maybe we will see some fancy hack for it

I’d normally be watching live but I have to be out of town tomorrow and when the keynote starts I’ll be starting up a new SCADA. I’ll have to watch at night after I get home. I don’t expect to see anything that will make me want to pull out my credit card, I already have a 14 Pro and a Watch SE 2nd Edition. Maybe next year.

I’m actually eager to see what features the expected Apple Watch Series 9 will offer. My Series 7 has a deep crack in the display. So much for the advertising claiming it was “the most durable” and had “the most crack-resistant front crystal yet.” The Apple Watch Series 8 was a minor improvement over the 7, with a new chip and a new temperature sensor, as far as I recall. The Apple Watch Ultra is overkill for my use case (and I believe for many people’s use cases as well).

When Nothing (CMF) plans to launch the smart watch, happy to give it a thorough testing 😉 I’ve been wearing my watch basically 24/7 for the last 21 months

I only use my Apple Watch on work days and then only to triage notifications. I’m definitely not their target audience.

Remi F If they have the action button, I’m curious to see what their use case would be. I can see it getting triggered accidentally, and having a phone go off silent would be really annoying.

MaxSoliman I also have a series 7! Didn’t upgrade to series 8 for the same reasons… the temperature sensing and cycle tracking is a great feature but not enough for an upgrade. I’d want to see a number of in-depth health tracking features added (Rob showed me the stress tracking on his Garmin today… so good to be aware of stress throughout the day!)

And, battery life upgraded past 18hrs… having to charge before bed is annoying!

Battery life on the SE Gen2 is amazing tbh. I end the day (6am to 8pm) with almost 70% nearly every day.
