Nothing Phone (2) camera feedback
Camera Performance of Nothing Phone 2 After Recent Updates
The recent updates to the Nothing Phone 2 have significantly impacted the camera’s performance, and not in a good way. The image quality has deteriorated, with noticeable issues like reduced sharpness, inaccurate color reproduction, and poor dynamic range. Night mode, which was previously impressive, now struggles with grainy outputs and inconsistent focusing.
These problems are disappointing, especially for a device marketed as having a high-quality camera. It seems that rather than improving, the updates have introduced bugs or regressed performance, which is frustrating for users who expect enhancements.
I hope the Nothing team addresses these issues quickly with a focused update to restore the camera’s potential. As it stands, the current performance does not justify the premium positioning of the device.

"I had almost forgotten what a smooth camera experience feels like. A few days ago, I used my dad’s iPhone 14 Plus, and the camera app’s smoothness was just next level. I’m not talking about the camera quality, but the fluidity and responsiveness of the app itself. Unfortunately, the Nothing Phone (2) doesn’t come close in this aspect. Please consider improving this!

First of all, let me tell a bit difference in phone 2 camera. I am a photographer, so a minimum things I need is the raw shot capture. But, Nothing Phone 2’s camera really disappointed me. My last phone was Iphone 6s. Then I shifted to Phone 2. But, the difference is huge.
The Performance of the portrait mode is below average. It casually cut off the object on its own.
The Performance of Night mode is also worse. Literally like a low end device.
In the pro mode (Expert mode), the manual settings doesn’t represent the actual factors. So, there are huge difference in ISO settings as well. Light doesn’t enters the way I expect.
Sometimes, if I lock the af, still the focus automatically got disable in the video mode. And the stability also gaet worse after 3.0 beta update.
More or less, Nothing should improve its most impressive product’s camera settings. I would suggest to add a cinematic video mode, with nothing’s own interface but the OIS should work well. It seems we (the phone 2 users) are getting only 20-30% of the 8+ gen 1 Chip’s power.
Please fix that ASAP.
adharsh it’s a long way for nothing to do decent camera processing. I personally use gcam
Why Nothing is not working on Camera Update for NP2 ? I don’t thing that NP2 doesn’t need any camera update atleast flagship need a proper camera update HDR is worst no color correction
NothingTushar13 Maybe because the company knows that NP2’s camera can’t be improved further with the resources they have at their disposal or they will provide a good camera in their upcoming NP3. Current 3.0 update has too many inconsistencies when it comes to UI and other things but yet they chose to release it this way, maybe showing their intent for this device.
Other phones under 25K are performing better than Nothing Phone 2 in terms of Camera especially photos around sun set. Please fix camera and rollout some updates on Camera. With a lot of Hopes and Trust I took Nothing Phone. PLEASE FIX CAMERA.
I feel now they will not work on camera update specifically to nothing phone 2 and they already cleared that by not giving any official statement and now they will focus on their next phone as at the end they want to make profits
It’s been more than a year and still phone (2)'s camera lacks behind making it a below average performer. I don’t know why nothing hasn’t made any improvements in camera performance with the new os 3.0 update! I regret purchasing this device for 49k in india

Feeling is mutual here too. Regretting buying ₹46k flagship phone from a company.
Does anyone facing issue in night mode pictures after the 3.0 update..The picture before the update was good and we can able to see the picture and now it is only black..do anyone facing the same
Anyone from officials, who can reply on this thread?

My phone was running smoothly on nothing os 2.6 recently. I loved this phone and software so much that I refused to take an iPhone 13 plus as a gift. But in this recent update the ultra wide lens got issues. Two black appeared out of nowhere. It is not dust or anything I tried clea
the lens and then removed the black glass and then cleaned it off again with microfiber cloth, but it’s still the same. There is no customer centre in my country.I don’t know what to do now. Any suggestions will be helpful.
From day one the camera has been a hit and miss, sometimes the photos looks great but soon as you start to expand the image to check the quality it’s just a horrible mess of pixels , i feel that years ago camera quality on phones are some what better than the processing going on now it’s really making photos just look like digital paintings..
Does anyone know a way to bypass this AI processing. I recently went to a convention where I wanted to take photos of some slides which has text on them I was sitting far away from the stage so I zoomed and took the pictures but when I returned home to check the photos they had really excessive AI enhancing to the point the text became blurred. The photos below I took just now. Is this a issue for me only or is it with all nothing 2 phones. I didn’t know where to ask this so I am asking here. Thanks.

Hey guys,
I’ve been using the Nothing Phone (2) for a while, and I used to love the camera. The colors were spot on, shadows looked natural, and skin tones were perfect. But ever since the Ultra XDR update on April 18, the camera has gone downhill big time.
Now the colors are all over the place, shadows are crushed, and skin tones look weird and unnatural. It’s like they completely messed up the image processing. The camera used to be one of the best parts of this phone, and now it’s just frustrating to use.
And just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, the OS 3 update somehow made it even worse. I don’t know how they managed that, but here we are.
What’s really annoying is that Nothing isn’t even acknowledging the issue. So many people are complaining about the same thing, but it feels like they’re just ignoring us or not taking it seriously at all. No updates, no fixes, nothing.
Well here’s the proof also, this video on camera comparison completly shows what i am saying
Is anyone else dealing with this? Has anyone found a fix or workaround? It’s just disappointing to see a company with so much potential treat its users like this.
Let’s hope they wake up and actually listen to us soon.
Is this really what we Nothing Phone (2) users have paid 55k for?
Nothing Phone SeriesCommunity Feedback Community HelpPhone (2) Software Help
Even 15-20k phones of other companies provide good photosthan this. Total waste of money in camera department other than that it’s really a good phone but the camera is not even close to be called good.
Check out the photos that how it’s completely horrible
See, it doesn’t matter how many times I retake the photo but it always comes out horrible.
& When we raise the complaint they remain silent & if we raise issue by feedback/suggestions then they have one set of solutions only which includes clear cache, reset device blah blah blah. Are we suppose to reboot or reset the device each & every time we have to take pictures?
Instead of giving a permanent solution by fixing this through update why are they ignoring us? Just because this phone has turned out to be a flop one compared to other models? If so then still we have paid for it a big amount of money so we deserve the solution not excuses.

I request Nothing to improve the overall video camera and photo camera. Specially video camera should be improved a lot I guess. I think Nothing phone 2 video camera can do better if optimised in software, bring more stabilization to improve video, bring capability for more autofocus, AI based video enhancements can also be bought which can double the quality of video in Nothing phone 2. I also appreciate that Nothing photo camera has improved overtime. So I hope Nothing will also be improving the overall video camera.
According to my studies on the processor of Nothing Phone 2, it is capable of supporting 8k video but we users can understand that it is not possible because on the release of Nothing Phone 2 , Nothing was just a new brand and is hard to get much hardwares as a new brand. Also Nothing Phone 2 can support cinematic mode . But there is no cinematic mode for this phone a phone with 50 MP camera with ois and eis, the already used ai hdr enhancement features can be taken in advantage for enhancements of videos. And last but not the least it has a powerful chipset Snapdragon 8 plus gen 1. We still feel the video camera is not up to the level of the given hardware. That is something to be asked isn’t it right?
I’m here with all respect. I’m a huge Nothing fan. I see Nothing in a better position. I think Nothing will take this into consideration and bring much and better video camera improvements in the upcoming updates.

Worst camera ever seen with this flagship phone.
Photos are just crap it was even good before this Android 15 and Nothing os 3. I am using this NP2 since 1 year.
The Nothing Phone (2) is positioned as a flagship device, yet it features a 2x optical zoom, which seems modest compared to the 3x optical zoom in the newer Nothing Phone (3a). This raises questions about the camera capabilities of the Phone (2), especially given its premium status.
Additionally, the Phone (2) is slated to receive three years of Android updates and four years of security patches. While this is commendable, extending the software support to four years of major updates would enhance user experience and device longevity.
Enhancing the optical zoom and extending software support would reinforce the Phone (2)'s flagship status and better meet user expectations.
