Nothing Phone (2) camera feedback
radhar Right from the time NP2 was launched, most of the respected phone reviewers AND users have been dissing the camera software & begging time & again for better tuning of the very capable Sony IMX 890 main sensor. (The wide angle one is there just to add to the sensor count, it seems)
But sadly Nothing has done Nothing so far.
Their marketing philosophy seems to be, “This is what it is & will be, take it or leave it”.
Short of changing to another brand, there’s precious little that owners can do.
radhar bro i think they have improved the camera a lot, i don’t face any problem at all. what problem are you facing can you please upload with pictures so that other can also understand it.
Also while recording videos in phone 2 focus hunting still presents! It is so loosing the Beauty of capturing videos ! Video quality is still good
Most of the time camera struggles to focus on the subject while taking closeup videos or pictures. So will have to do AE/AF lock manually by using palm method. But on video mode that also is a mess, can’t do manual Focus on most of the cases on video mode. Can’t take Night Bokeh videos because of these issues. Please give us a major camera update.
My nothing phone 2 camera quality is really poor, please advise how it can be fix, I feels it’s totally waste of my money in this phone, I purchased this phone because of camera only. My phone is up-to-date, nothing os 2.1a.
Any solution for this camera issue.
SahilChauhan you are comparing former flag ship phone against a mid range phone. The HW is not the same and processing is done in sw.
The biggest issue I found with the lens on phone 2 is flare. To see this if you have any light above the camera it will flood into the lens. You can literally put your hand above the lens and you will see the flare goes away. The lens isn’t recessed like iPhone or mate 60 or galaxy 23.
As far as processing most of the software work if you use Android system is integrating with the HW system and dealing with that which includes camera and all the post processing. Some of the post processing can be generic but hardware specific processing can’t. Comparing apple to nothing is ridiculous when apple has all the funds in the world. If u want that iPhone spec then get that.
A fair criticism would be say vivo x100 vs nothing as it is in the same price range. But vivo is a huge company. Startups are startups.
Totally agree, selfie looks nice until I press shutter button and see retouched (retouching is off) result …. skin is blurred like beautify on Chinese phones
Horrible result
goparipradeep I faced this issue. Image looks like we have inserted the person though it is natural.

Phone 2 still needs much more work on processing the pictures taken.
I don’t know if it’s only in my device or what
But phone 2 camera
- Still lacks proper detailing when we zoom the pic
- In meta data every picture taken till date is showing 7.6MP whereas the sensor is of 50MP
- It supports 10x zoom but the quality is very poor & after processing its even more degraded. For example if I use 10x zoom on a shop name I can somewhat read the name from camera but when I take the picture then the name is completely blurred & distorted & nothing can be read.
- It still lacks editing features & for editing it’s become mandatory to use third party app or buy Google One membership
- And 8n my opinion, for flash in there should be one more option wherein we can use normal flash & glyph light both simultaneously for more lighting in night photos.

I have attached the pic taken with zoom & as you can see nothing can be read. But when I read from camera the shop name is Sagar Super Mall but in photo taken there is nothing to read.
So, please improve the quality & clarity & fix these issues. And also add some editing features as well for the convenience of users
After 2.5.2 update camera more loosed
I purchased a Nothing Phone 2 and while I appreciate many aspects of the device, I must express my disappointment regarding its camera performance in sunlight.
When attempting to capture photos in front of direct sunlight, the camera struggles to maintain image quality. Despite adjusting settings and angles, the photos often turn out overexposed or washed out, making it challenging to capture the vibrant moments effectively.
As someone who enjoys photography, this limitation significantly impacts my user experience. I hope that future updates or improvements to the camera software or hardware can address this issue, as it detracts from an otherwise excellent smartphone.
In conclusion, while the Nothing Phone 2 offers an appealing package overall, potential buyers should be aware of the camera’s shortcomings in bright sunlight conditions.
