Nothing Phone 2 AOD icons

Hi all,

Idk if this a very specific issue, but I am facing a bug where the AOD icons eg: clock, widgets, notification icons, etc. are now skewed down. Earlier I was able to see those icons at the top part of the screen but now whenever I lock my device I see them at the middle of the screen. I have no idea if this was released intentionally hence posting my findings here.

P.s. this is my first post here and I am a new user and I hate that this post is about an issue.

BikramBhattacharyya I don’t think it’s a bug, the AOD changes it’s position to avoid Amoled screen burn-in and it should be happening often for longevity of display. It was a long requested feature, but I still don’t see it changes position that frequently. It should be.

P.s.: It’s fine to post issues here, we help each other or we raise a common issue together to get it fixed. There’s always room for improvement. 😋

BikramBhattacharyya It’s been reported and is definitely a bug.

I have the same problem.

I’ve stated that the date/weather and double line clock gradually move down the screen till the clock is past the middle of the screen then slowly goes back up, nothing erratic, just a continuous cycle.

That’d be way to excessive to be meant to prevent burn in, and besides, that doesn’t cause burn in as all Pixel Phones have the exact same thing on the AOD and don’t move and don’t cause burn in.

Nothing phones haven’t even been out long enough for anything to be burnt on to the screen, lol.

GordonLutz Screen burn-in is not something that definitely be happening to all, but it’s good to have preventive features tho. Currently displays are not limited to static images (like static notification bar in old Android versions), so there won’t be much of a problem. But since I joined this community, I’ve seen threads requesting this feature, only mentioned that.

And lol, the infamous green line issue is the new trend, who waits for a burn-in then?

ZiyadMohammed I know all about burn in, I’ve had many Pixel phones and every one has had burn in, but due to icons at the top of the phone and keyboard, never the AOD.

As for how the AOD has been performing after an update which causes it to move, is a slow gradual cycle. To be a preventative measure for burn in it should be erratic. As in jump to a different place all the time.

As it is, it’s most likely cause burn in all the way down the screen as it takes 5 hours to go each way.

I just got the phone a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it till this started happening, now I’m thinking of getting rid of it cause the AOD is driving me absolutely nuts, makes the phone look awful. I’d rather take my chance with burn in cause I know that will be a slim chance.

There also is already a preventative measure which is on by default, whereas the AOD is off between a period of time, when normally people are sleeping. Took me quite some time to figure that out and turn that feature off.
