CMF Watch Pro 2 is decent, but I find myself questioning the necessity of having a display of this type. The Always-On feature might be convenient for some, but personally, I would prefer a more efficient e-ink screen. Here’s why:
1. Battery Life: An e-ink display consumes significantly less power compared to traditional OLED or LCD screens, especially when using the Always-On mode. This would extend the battery life, making it less of a hassle to recharge the watch frequently.
2. Lightweight and Thin Design: E-ink screens typically require less hardware for backlighting and other components, which could lead to a much lighter and slimmer design. Wearing a watch that’s light and thin is essential for everyday comfort, especially during physical activities or sleep.
3. Outdoor Visibility: E-ink screens are known for their superior readability in direct sunlight, unlike standard displays, which tend to reflect light and become hard to read outdoors. For someone who spends time outside or values quick glances at their watch, this would be a significant advantage.
4. Focus on Essentials: Smartwatches today are packed with features that many users might not even fully utilize. A simpler e-ink display would shift the focus to the essential functions like notifications, fitness tracking, and timekeeping. It’s a matter of reducing complexity while enhancing usability.
In essence, a lighter, thinner watch with an e-ink screen would strike the perfect balance between functionality, battery life, and comfort.
