Inside Ear (open)
Love a great teardown. To echo what some have mentioned, I find the battery placement interesting. Perhaps it also balances the weight of the driver at the other end? Anyway, really enjoy these detailed breakdowns.
absolutely love these teardown breakdowns, also absolutely loving my ear (open). I take them everywhere with me at this point and use them way more than I’ve used most headphones/earbuds. these sound excellent but also keep me well engaged in my environments, great work on these.
Rob I am digging the gold batteries and hook design aesthetic, Nothing should’ve used that gold colour in ear(open)'s design and made it visible.
Rob the amazing 14.2mm driver, is the biggest, thats totally new and amazing for improving the sound quality.
Question: Tell us if you learnt something about Ear (open) from this post???
Me: Something? It’s everything! I’ve learned everything from this post about the Ear (Open)
!!!
This was my first time knowing what exactly is inside hardware like the Ear (open). I didn’t even know what batteries looked like for devices like these before this post so kudos to the team for that. Excited for the path ahead for Nothing.
Rob I’ve never really been a fan of open type earphones because I love the bass that in ear gives but looking at reviews of it, it seems to be really good and still gives a good bass. The other thing I like is the hook, which sits on top of the ear and prevents it from dropping which I struggle with most in ear since my ear gets oily very easily.

Rob Wow I really like to look inside this kind of tech product. When I see something cool I usually look up online teardown videos to look how they are on the inside. My favorite products are the ones that look good both outside and inside!
I respect Nothing for proudly showing the insides of their products, both with transparent plastic and teardowns. I’ll take inspiration from this if I’ll design something of my own!
I love how Ear (open) brings a fresh take on open wearable stereo technology. Learning about the unique 14.2mm driver design and how it balances deep bass with high-frequency clarity was insightful. Plus, the transparent housing and thoughtful placement of components to reduce wind noise shows great attention to detail. Looking forward to experiencing seamless audio without losing awareness of my surroundings.
Rob Really interesting to see the inside of the Ear(open), I didn’t know there were such big circuit boards in the earbuds, always thought it wouldbe a really small chip. Thanks for showing us the inside of the Ear(open)!
Wow, the magnet placement is so clever!
Reminds me of how hearing aids are constructed, and are like this designed with long term use in mind.
Very cool what Nothing has done here with the Ear Open.
Rob The battery position is very smart

Rob I was looking for the transparent side where Nothing does it usual for every product, and then here it is hiding underneath-the transparent housing(everything’s good there), that’s all it is.
I find that the position of the batteries in the buds very smart for weight distribution
in future models i would like too see more pcbs and internal parts throught the transparent parts, specially on the case. there are a lot of beautyfull parts covered.
