Not a huge fan of the Open Beta release dates, as it favored Phone (2a) over Phone (1) & Phone (2) users.
Let’s get some re-prioritization efforts going to get Phone (½) on open Beta at the same time. 🙂

I feel kinda shafted with the phone 2 by now…. It’s like I bought the cheapo version of the flagsship and the flagship is getting the updates quicker, BUT ITS THE OTHER WAY ROUND!

To all those who say Phone 2a’s early update means fewer bugs for Phone 2, you’re mistaken. Only bugs that aren’t tied to the hardware will be fixed for all the phones (and even that isn’t necessarily true as the codebase for both the OS would be different). Hardware-specific issues, like fingerprint scanner problems, won’t be resolved until tested on Phone 2.

Justifying beta version for a mid-range device over a flagship is flawed. Imagine buying a $1000+ Samsung S24 Ultra only to find its AI features are first shipped to the cheaper S24 FE. That’s how Phone 2 owners feel. We paid more only to wait longer. I even paid for the highest end Phone 2 and still got treated like this.

As an Android developer, I test multiple apps daily. I even tested Google’s Android 15 Developer Preview back in February and yet I have to wait to try the OS that I use daily.

Other companies handle updates differently. Samsung releases betas (and stable versions) for entire series simultaneously. If you have an S24 or S24 Plus, you get the update at the same time as the Ultra. Nothing should also follow suit.

Updating each phone individually creates delays. Phone 2a’s early update means it’s likely to get the stable version first, and so on. As more devices are released, this cycle will continue, causing further delays.

Nothing’s team is also at fault here. While building AOSP from scratch takes time, updating all devices in a series simultaneously would avoid discrimination. Difference in features between devices is also a major issue.

If they can’t keep up with updates, they should hire more developers. I’ve been looking at Nothing’s careers page for months but haven’t seen relevant job openings.

And finally let’s please stop arguing. Let Phone 2a users enjoy their update, while others wait patiently.

(Note: I’m not trying to be rude towards anyone but this is just what I think about the current update situation.)

Congratulations, Nothing Teams!

I’m a bit sad and jealous to see 2a got first, but it is fine. You guys know what is the highest priority to cook first. 😊

So, I’m excited to see what you deliver NothingOS 3.0 to 2 and yes, bear in mind this Open Beta. Some features may be stable or may be removed due to instability.

Don’t forget clean install NothingOS 3.0 OB1 ya 2a folks. 🤗

Natalie ✨ we need to have an app gallary for photos just related to nothing company, me using google photo apps or any other gallary app is not good and not easy to use, please put in your mind to create an app just for nothing Phone for photos it will be so cool to have

Everybody crying about Nothing not releasing beta for NP2 and/or NP1 first - why wouldn’t you understand that for every developer is better to release beta first on device that more users have, to find bugs and errors faster? Are you crying that Nothing is experimenting on us peasants, not you richies? FOMO in all its glory.

And yes, companies often prioritize most sold product, idk why, capitalism maybe, but it is not the case here for sure.

Can we download the beta version without losing our data?

RavishKumar Nothing doesn’t need to acknowledge any mistake. There is a timeline provided and we should respect it. Most brands don’t even release beta tests. Most don’t even have an open community like Nothing does. If you talked the way you do here at Xiaomi’s community, your comments would be moderated and deleted faster than you can say Nothing.

“It’s funny that the mid-range phone (2a) gets the first open beta before the flagship phone (2). bad behavior Nothing towards customers.

I think this update has been very disappointing, you have removed the dotted font that is so characteristic of Nothing’s style. On the other hand, we were expecting Nothing to release its own applications, Nothing photo gallery, Nothing file manager, Nothing mail manager. I hope that the company seriously reconsiders the direction they want to take, since design is their strong point and they are starting to mix different fonts and unbalance their brand identity.

Really shocked to see the comments on this thread. Why are people who own older models commenting as if they are completely denied from experiencing NOS3 entirely?

If someone doesn’t understand the meaning of beta, they should not even bother to comment about it.

Imagine the portfolio of nothing devices, assign a percentage for each model based on its number of users.

The highest number should be the first to get the beta and the lowest should be the last

This is all because more devices can test the beta and more feedback can be received by the brand to further develop and improve OS3.

If nothing Phone 2 or 1 users number exceeded 2a, those would be the first models to receive the beta.

But, please remember that every single device is getting the update. Even the schedule is out.

Nobody is cheating you or anything, most people here are just blindly hating and commenting such hateful things.

Relax and just let nothing cook

First it is a joke that a high-end cell phone like the Nothing phone 2 does not have Dolby Atmos and now that they leave it in the background in updates, the truth is I am disappointed in the brand, I had the Nothing phone 1 and I liked it a lot because That’s why I bought the update but this will be my last device from the brand

I was reading beta features . Is gallery not added on update ? And also need work on files too . Is beta update stable for now ?. I was really thought gallery would be added in beta.

So has anyone that has installed this beta ran into any troubles at all, like apps not working or data, Bluetooth, WiFi not connecting?.. Just curious before I install it.. Tia!
