  • Biometric Authentication for User Profiles (Thumb-based Authentication)

Concept: Allow users to log in to different profiles using thumbprint identification (e.g., left thumb for one user profile, right thumb for another). this will open up a whole lot of possibilities, do add this in the new nothing update

    Hey 👋

Just to be clear, are you referring to a single user having multiple accounts linked to different fingerprints?

Also it would be great if you could describe the possibilities and benefits that this would add.

Derren Yes you got it right and the benefits are as follows

      1. Seamless Profile Switching:

      • Allow users to create separate profiles for personal and professional use, keeping everything isolated (e.g., images, apps, messages like WhatsApp, etc.).

      • Each profile can be accessed with different fingerprints, eliminating the need to manually switch profiles.

      • This will reduce the hassle of carrying two phones and make managing personal and professional life on one device easier.

      2. Enhanced Privacy Layer:

      • When asked to unlock the phone, users can choose which profile to unlock (based on the fingerprint used).

      • This feature provides an extra layer of privacy, especially in situations where a user may not want to reveal everything on their phone.

      3. Selective Sharing Across Profiles:

      • Users can be given control over what data or notifications are shared between profiles (e.g., specific apps, notifications, texts, etc.).

      • This flexibility allows users to stay connected in ways they choose while maintaining profile separation.

      Benefits:

      • Privacy and Security: More control over what content is accessible when unlocking the phone, reducing the chances of unintentional data exposure.

      • Convenience: Quick switching between profiles based on context (personal vs. work) with minimal effort.

      • User Experience: Intuitive, fingerprint-based profile switching enhances overall OS usability.

By introducing this feature in a future OS update, it could truly elevate the phone’s user experience, making it both a powerful privacy tool and a seamless productivity device.
