Nothing: Serious Consumer Rights Issue
After performing a factory reset, my Nothing Phone became stuck at:
“Insert a Valid SIM Card”
The device is being used with a valid Indian SIM with active international roaming, yet Nothing still refuses to activate the phone outside India.
Why should a customer who legally purchased a phone in India be forced to travel back to India simply to activate their own device after a factory reset?
This is not a normal technical limitation. It raises a serious consumer-rights and product-disclosure concern.
If Nothing intentionally requires an Indian mobile network for activation, this restriction should have been clearly disclosed before purchase. Customers travel, relocate, and work internationally. They should not be forced to buy another phone or spend money travelling back to India just to use a product they already own.
Nothing needs to provide a clear answer:
Is this an intentional restriction? If yes, where was it disclosed to customers? And what is the official solution for customers living abroad?
If Nothing cannot provide a reasonable solution, I will consider raising this matter with the appropriate consumer protection authorities and legal forums in India.
Customers should not have to travel across countries to activate a phone they have already paid for.
