It may be early to think about this before the stable version of Nothing OS 3.0 is released, but if Android 16 comes out in Q2 of 2025 as rumored, will the Phone (1) also receive this update? After all, it was promised to update the OS for 3 years, not 3 Android versions.

Always it means only 3 android version, android 15 is the last nothing phone 1 update.
3 years = 3 android versions, you will able to get only security patches after android 15 update.
Even if Android 16 will be released in Q2, it doesn’t mean OS 3.5 (or whatever it’ll be called) will be released in Q2. I’m fairly sure Android 15 will be the last major update for NP1, but who knows, maybe Nothing will surprise their users.

Don’t think so. Even if its possible no company will give extra updates.
Nothing promised 3years update, and yea surely they will give us the Android 15 updates with nothing 0s 3.0 but expecting more is foolish.
They are a Phone company and every company wants their costumer to upgrade their products.
That’s why they introduced Phone 2 right?
phone 1 wont be getting Android 16. they have clearly said 3 major and 4 years of security updates. it came with 12 - we got 13 , 14 and last 15.

Google just launched another Android (Android 16) same year, so is it 3 years of update or 3 generation update

sh0ck They launched the Developer preview, final release is not planned until June, 3 “years” is generally the word for 3 Major Android version so for Phone (1), last version should remain Android 15

sh0ck I have heard Google are moving the launch of future Android releases to mid-year (From A16) so that the devices released later that year will be running the latest version of Android, and not need to update straight out of the box.
RapidZapper It would be good if they gave us a table like Google does (based on the month the phone was released) for their devices. Based on that, my Pixel 6A may still qualify for Android 16 as it is guaranteed version updates until July 2025.

Just want to know is there any way or any suprise about Android 16 upgrade for NP1? this can cause good example how Nothing treats its users.
Currently people still waiting for Android 5 even Android 14 at other brands. I always promote Nothing as SW upgrades and they are one of the fastest company to release Android upgrades.
