As a music lover, not an audiophile. I have been using Ear Open for almost a month. Before that, I have ever used some other open earbuds like Soundcore Aerofit, Xiaomi Open. Today I want to talk about my feelings about the sound quality of Ear Open.
Before using the Ear Open, since it’s open wearable earbuds, I didn’t expect much for its sound quality, especially for Bass. However after using it for almost a month, I found the sound quality a bit exceed my expectations.
1. Bass, impressive. Although it’s not as good as the bass performance of in-ear headphones, considered only a small 14.2mm driver unit applied, its still more than I expected. I usually use it in the office or at home, the environment is relatively quiet, so I only need about 50% of the volume, or even lower. At this volume level, the low frequency performance is more impressive than my previous half-in-ear Apple AirPods. But in noisy environments, such as taking the subway, you need higher volume, usually more than 80%, the bass will be significantly weakened. Because there is no noise cancellation, in this kind of noisy environment, the clear hearing is more important. In fact, I personally do not recommend using it in a noisy environment, because you have to adjust the volume to very high level to ensure hear clearly, which will cause hearing loss for long time.
2. Vocals, medium. The voice is clear and soft, but not very prominent, a little traditional HiFi feeling, suitable for long time using.
3. Treble, details are good. If in the quiet environment, it is comparable to in-ear earphones, but too high volume will be a little harsh. In fact, in-ear TWS has the same problem, but because of the noise reduction function, the user will not turn the TWS volume up to very high level.
The sound quality of open earphones is greatly affected by wearing. If the earphones do not fit the ears well, the sound quality will be greatly reduced. Although I don’t wear them very well, the sound outlet of the earphones is still close to my ear canal, so the overall sound loss is minor. With my own normal wearing condition, I am very satisfied with the sound quality.
Although the sound quality of Nothing’s first open wearable earbuds still had some shortcomings, If it’s 100 points in total, I think it’s worth 90 points.
