Welcome to another Nothing Newsletter - the penultimate edition before the end of the year. With the launch of Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition, the recruitment of the next Community Board Observer, and the Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta rolling out to users, it’s an exciting one. Read on for all the updates!

Could you be our next Community Board Observer?

Every year, the Nothing community elects a new Community Board Observer to represent the voices of our community to the highest level of leadership at the company. We’re excited to announce that applications are now open until November 25th!

The CBO will act as a bridge between the brand and the community. Key duties include engaging with members across platforms, attending quarterly Board meetings, and creating content to keep the community informed. Applicants should be active community members, skilled communicators, and able to attend Board meetings (virtually or in person) throughout the year. This role requires a passion for the community, teamwork, and confidentiality.

You can catch up with Community Manager @Rob ⚡️ and current CBO @RohitPakalapati’s livestream here. The discussion includes a Q&A and insights into the duties of the CBO. And, when you’re ready to make your application, head to this post for the full role description and the application form!

Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition

The Community Edition Project has been a remarkable success. Last month we revealed our first ever co-created product, that we built with help from our members. We celebrated with an event in our Soho store with all four of our winners - it was a glowing night! And you can still visit the Community Edition exhibition at Nothing Store Soho until November 28th 2024.

The response has been remarkable, with all of the units available on nothing.tech and Flipkart (apart from in SEA, where sales open later) sold out in just 15 minutes overall. There’s still a chance to get your hands on one of the last few units IRL. Find details of our Drop events below:

Community Shout-Outs: Introducing Snake Widget & a Phone (2) DJ set

In case you missed it, in our last Quarterly Update video on YouTube, we announced that we’re working on a Snake Widget game with two of our talented community members: @Rahul and @RapidZapper.

The project was inspired by Rahul’s 10 widget concepts. The software team at Nothing loved them so much that we decided to co-create and bring the widget to life!

The widget is available very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

We also heard some great music from @DmitryNovikov. Using six Nothing Phone (2) devices for a live DJ set, we loved the creative use of our hardware. You can listen to and watch his original live set here:

Nothing Library: What is the Nothing Team Reading and Listening To?

Last month, we got two amazing media recommendations from our team. Here are some more books and podcasts that are keeping the team busy and inspired this month. Let us know what you’re reading or listening to down below!

📖 Book - Invisible Women - recommended by Manny, Research & Insights Lead

Invisible Women explores the ways in which researchers & designers have consistently overlooked women. The consequences go beyond annoyances like cold offices or hard-to-hold phones; they lead to serious issues like drug doses that aren’t tested on women, unfair tax policies, and misdiagnoses that put lives at risk. I recommend it to everyone!

🎤 Podcast - Working Hard, Hardly Working - recommended by Natalie, Community Team

This podcast is hosted by Grace Beverley, who founded fitness & lifestyle apparel brand TALA in London! I love listening to her business insights as a young founder, and she brings on inspiring guests such as the CEO of Whoop and Depop to share their journeys and knowledge of founding successful consumer-facing businesses!

That’s everything for November. We hope you enjoyed this month’s digest and you have enough to listen to or read from our team. As always, let us know what you found most interesting below!

Please try to Better’ feature in nothing phone 2 because your first flagship phone and one plus is very good feature so please added complete features.

It was amazing month with many news from Nothing Team, the most thing i’am waiting for now its a snake 🐍 widget i will let to my kids play with it 😊

imagine like a shared snake widget but it’s only one snake. so while playing you just gotta hope that the other person isn’t online

I think they do more widgets developed with community

Wow! It has been another amazing month for the Nothing Team, and even more so for the Community! 🔥

Once again, loving the reading and listening suggestions from the team, such a wonderful and personal touch.

Super excited for the Snake Widget to launch, congrats to Rahul, Rapid and the software team for continuing the great themes of co-creation between Nothing and its community. Anyone up for a leaderboard of everyone’s high scores? 👀

I find the audio recorder app incredibly useful as a backup tool when taking minutes during meetings. It’s been a great help.

I also wish there were an app that explains how RAM boosters, display refresh rates, and camera features work. I feel I’m not maximizing the camera’s potential because I don’t fully understand how it functions.

Additionally, I’d appreciate tips on the proper way to care for a battery while charging. My battery keeps draining every morning because I only charge it once a day, and I’m worried this might negatively affect its lifespan.

Very cool! Like the continued involvement of the community! Additional widgets are always welcome. Will have to check out that podcast that was recommended. Keep it up 😃
