Nothing is not shy about getting inspired by other brands and there’s nothing to be ashamed of getting inspired on good things other brands do.
While Nothing started off, they started off, offering people a premium experience like an iPhone. People get recognised while we’re having a Nothing Phone in our hands.
NP1 and NP2 offered the same experience but when it came to the midrangers, of course I understand the sales numbers and volume was much required for the new company in order to turn it into a profitable company but in the coming years I think the quality should be consistent, similar to the iPhones.
iPhones have budget options but never a “midrange” phone. That means even an iPhone Se gets the same flagship chip as their current flagship phone or a chipset that’s one generation older. The build and design is consistent, the camera quality is consistent ( this trend can also be seen in the Pixels, which is an upcoming trend maker especially in Asian markets and in India - regarding chipset and camera quality). Then they do cut corners to differentiate between their current flagships and these budget options. Hence anyone who picks up their phone gets the same level of finesse their flagship might have. Similar performance, similar camera, similar design language, hence buying into their brand’s experience.
Anything that came close to this, was Oneplus by selling 11r and 12r, both of which sold well. But still lacked the camera experience hence cannot be compared to what the Pixel A series and iPhone se can do.
This is just something for the guys at Nothing to think about, just an idea. Have a discussion up there! I’ll be back with more ideas for discussions!
