I was considering to buy either NP2a or NP2a+(getting both of em at a similar price) but recently I saw majority of people getting the “green tint” issue with their screens(especially in India) so I’m kinda confused now.

Some people say it is just in the dark mode and in the lockscreen while using the fingerprint scanner, and if we turn the dark mode off it goes away; is that true? Is there any solution for it? If it is just in the lockscreen, I’m okay with it, as far as it isnt an issue with the screen.

For some turning the night light option in the setting also worked, lemme know about that as well.

Also is the issue fixed with the os 3.0 beta?

I have been using cmf buds pro 2 since a while now and I was very excited to get a nothing phone(considering I’m upgrading from a 6 year old samsung a9 which is a mid-low ranger)

Its either nothing or moto edge 50 fusion, PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE.

ParamveerSingh_R3fDXsM8li yes I think. I am experiencing it too. It severity depends on your usage pattern as well. Sometimes I use my phone for long hours, hence the status bar gets etched in the display and is very noticeable. But if I barely use my phone, the burn is very less and barely noticeable. But if you’re a normal user you will experience a noticeable amount of it.

For me it’s only on the lock screen (or whenever the fingerprint sensor is “active” with the fingerprint circle visible). Other than that I have so far had no tint issues (fingers crossed!)

ParamveerSingh_R3fDXsM8li Screen burn won’t be a deal breaker for you in my opinion. only status bar gets burnt into the screen sometimes but you wont care about it most of the times. Although there are other issues you may want to consider before buying. Check these threads out:

      2a’s display tear and bleeding
Nothing 2a’s display’s pixel tearing issue (definitely check this one out)

Phone 2a - Display blunder black not black

      Display in NP2a is weird

I am not saying that all NP2a’s have these issues but a lot of them do. the green tint and extreme smearing issue is the most common. so the conclusion is: if you are ready to face the display issues and the disappointment due to bad quality display panel, go for it. Nothing has an excellent software experience but the bad display ruins everything. Many of the genuine problems community had were dismissed by service centre guys. they give excuses like “it its normal oled behavior” “that happens with every phone” etc. they’re not ready to accept that the panel quality is a disaster. you wont have a good content streaming and display experience. the display has the quality of a 10k phone.

EDIT: but if you really want to experience having a nothing phone, you can go for it anyway. I am disappointed with my NP2a but overall I don’t regret the purchase. I like having a nothing phone. Hopefully a service centre visit will fix it for me. Buy the plus version to be at a safer side. It has less reported issues and its the most recent NP

ParamveerSingh_R3fDXsM8li good timing. a friend of mine visited the service centre today to get the screen replaced. he had all the problems I mentioned above. the service centre accepted that its a defect but the issue was forwarded to Nothing team and they think the customer is a donkey. They dismissed him saying that its a “feature” 🤡. Nothing support in India is a shame.

ParamveerSingh_R3fDXsM8li I have an update on this issue. The service centre guys admitted that its an unintended thing which is being caused by a combination of factors. First of all, it could be a software fault because nothing did a bad job doing color mapping. Secondly, hardware has a lot to do with this. Nothing uses BOE and visionOX displays. And almost all the BOE displays are facing the green tint issue as well as some other problems. So currently I’m counting on the NothingOS 3.0 update. If nothing improves, its a hardware thing.

ZEN_EBL5zUgEXF Actually I took an impulsive decision and bought 2a. I couldn’t see the green tint so i hunted for it, i did see it but it is literally just on the lock screen that too on dark mode with low brightness.

So far I’m really really happy with the phone.

Also I couldn’t observe any image retention, maybe becoz i use ultra small font size

ZEN_EBL5zUgEXF yeah But i havent updated it to the october security patch update, should I update it or wait for 3.0?

Also i made sure to buy it from a good seller like croma, i really don’t trust flipkart.

ParamveerSingh_R3fDXsM8li I haven’t witnessed any issues yet so you can update to the october patch for sure. But its perfectly ok to wait until a stable NOS 3.0. I was planning to wait until february or march so I’d update to a much stable NOS 3.0 but I accidentally updated the phone.
