I am using Nothing phone 2 with OS version 2.5.2. Trying to connect Android auto using nothing cable in my Jeep compass 2017 model but Android auto does not connect.

Tried with other phones and it works fine. Nothing please do help with this issue. I personally know many who are going through this issue

Merged 1 post from Android Auto failing nothing phone 2.

Had this problem with my last phone and honda jazz. Solution that worked for me was only use a usb type 2 cable and make sure you get the positive connection in the usb c port (i.e. make sure there is no pocket lint trapped in the port, unlikely if you have only had the Nothing phone a few months). Hope this works for you.

Hope that this means - good news.

UPDATE

Yeah, it looks like progress and good news

UPDATE 2 (Support on X)

Or not-so-good ones.

5 days later

Hey,

So I had this same problem a year ago with a OnePlus 10T. The answer from OnePlus is that it is not a supported phone on the infotainment system. So a 2020 Skoda with a more modern phone may fall into issues.

OnePlus said they would do a fix (like the above) but a brief search of Reddit shows that 4 days ago (well over a year since I tried) nothing has changed for the 10T fix.

My theory is the infotainment system is outdated with no more updates and that the newer phone will become less compatible over time. Nothing Tech may create a patch but I am unsure whether your infotainment will get an update to be able to pair. (Don’t shoot me and I may end up eating my words if I’m wrong).

This is just a theory but lines up based on OnePlus doing exactly the same thing. Was looking for this issue today for the Nothing Phone (2) because I may have dropped my NP(1) a bit too hard.

Hey, Dominic! Of course, it’s possible that the entertainment system does not support this, but I doubt this is the case.
I just tried the OnePlus Nord 3 (released 1 year after 10T and 6 days before my NP2) - Works like a charm!

So it’s more on the management’s willingness to prioritize this as a reasonable problem and fix it.

I’ve bought a AAWireless dongle so I can ditch my OnePlus 7T Pro which is now permanently connected to my Android Auto through WiFi Hotspot on my Phone (2).

I’ll still keep reading this thread. I hope they fix it relatively soon.

@ErikV_NL tell me how this works. I really want to keep my Phone 2 but Android Auto is too important for me and my job so I am still using my Phone 1 for everything. If there is an option I can do something else I am all ears.

Buy the AAWireless dongle, connect it to your Android Auto USB port in the car and then connect your Nothing (2) phone to the AAWireless dongle through Bluetooth and WiFi (it has an app).

Works flawlessly and wirelessly. Sees the phone as a Nothing Phone (2) instead of CAPE-QRD.

I got it second hand from someone for €40. New it’s about €70.

ErikV_NL I took a punt on that being what you were going to say so ordered on for £60 arriving today. Got a Data blocker cable too so should be able to charge at the same time.

Worked amazingly last night and this morning. Then when I came back to the car after work….nothing, even after 30 mins troubleshooting. Drove home tethered to my Phone 1 and then 30 min drive later, parked at home and tried again and it started working instantly….🤷

I’d rather they fixed it though

Facing same issues with Skoda slavia. Not able to connect

My car does not have wireless android auto connect. I tried with usb cable provided by nothing. No luck.

Nothing team should resolve this issue ASAP. It’s deal breaker. I wonder no one mentioned this issue in youtube reviews.

I am facing the same problem with Opel Corsa Electric (2024). There is a temporal solution: connecting via wire and restoring to factory settings on the car’s multimedia system. However, this may cause your keyboard to be minimized and annoy you even after you cut your connection with the multimedia device.

Hello, after the update my Nothing Phone 2 still does not work with Android Auto. Through Bluetooth I can make calls and listen to music (this already worked before without the update). Has it worked for anyone?

Still not working after todays update to version 2.5.3.. I am trying to use with original Type-C to Type-C cable connected to Skoda Kamiq 2020 or Skoda Octavia 4.

Tried all of the possible recommendations from forums and manufacturer website.
Other brand phones work OK with said cars.
I really hope for quick fix.

Yes, I also keep experiencing the same problem after NOS 2.5.3 update

Interesting Update: After asking Support about fixing/Development progress on this, they are now asking for IMEIs and Device Purchase info

        Good Update:

I’m trying to connect to Skoda Scala 2019. I have the same issue like others above. Until now I tried:

          • Clean cache/reinstalling Android Auto on the phone.
          • Connecting with original cable and with baesus cable
          • Using Programming option - USB Debugging turned on and with turned off.

And it always breaking the connection between the car and the phone after couple seconds. Phone is always displayed as CAPE-QRD with random numbers. Earlier I was connecting with same car using Nothing Phone (1) and everything was working like a charm.
So I am also keeping fingers crossed for fixing this issue by Nothing Team. Can’t wait for the patch. Good Luck!

Same problem here my Skoda Scala (MY 5/2019) does not work. It identifies the phone as Nothing A065 and says the connection failed. The phone gets a popup prompting me to switch a cable and/or the USB port because the phone keeps on getting disconnected. Neither switching a cable or the second USB port in the car does not solve the issue. My previous OnePlus 9 Pro worked just fine so it’s gotta be an issue on the side of Nothing. I’m running the latest NOS 2.5.3 but hopefully as EM (1) mentioned it will be fixed in the next scheduled update. I guess it’s a phone holder time like it’s 2010 until it gets solved because I don’t want to switch to any other phone 😅.
