Disclaimer: I know that this community is not the place to report problems to Nothing, so I’ll be emailing customer support, but I wanted to share my opinion with other users.

According to what Nothing reports on its website, Nothing phones will receive 3 major Android updates (version updates, example from A14 to A15) and 4 years of security patches every 2 months. Now, why does my NP2, updated to the latest available version, have the October 1st security patches? It’s December 10th and the latest security fixes have not yet been released. I can understand that the development team is under stress for the release of NOS 3.0, but in any case if you promise updates every 60 days, you can’t have not released an update after more than 70 days. Especially now that Google has updated the Play Integrity API, it is most important to constantly have the latest patches.

I don’t expect every time an update with a big changelog and a lot of new features, but simply the latest security patches and optionally a generic bug fix evrey 2 months. Then when a bigger update is ready to be released. I think that security updates and feature updates should be handled separately, the first should be released promptly every 60 days, the seconds when the development team decide that it is ready.

ALso, always in my opinion, Nothing should provide more support for their phones, at least on the “tops” ones. Many Chinese manufacturers have started to provide 5-6 years of updates, not to mention Google and Samsung who offer 7 years. As if that were not enough, NP1 and NP2 were launched in July, a few months before the release of the new version of Android, so they “skipped” an update at the start.

Finally the fact that some features (like the camera widget, the charging limit, the vibration intensity, etc.) are released only on some models and do not arrive on the others, or if they arrive, they do it after a lot of months. It is not a problem that a feature is released first on a new and perhaps cheaper, exemple NP2a, but I would expect that after 2 max 3 months it is also released on other phones. Especially if there are no significant hardware differences. It is true that NP2 and NP2a have two very different processors, Snapdragon vs Mediatech, but I am quite sure that for non-low-level features (widgets for example) deep optimizations or heavy changes are not necessary.

Obviously these are my personal considerations/opinions, but I’m curious to know what other users of the communities think too.

It’s already 70+ days since the last security patch update

What about nothing phone 2a plush beta version update??

Being a nothing phone user’s very upset about this update system of nothing phone…

Mind nothing phone 2a plush….still not getting update of beta version os 15! Why don’t realise it at the same time of every nothing products ? Accordingly to their update!?

Plz check for Google Play system update on your NP2 > settings. I updated mine to Nov 2024 yesterday.

TatumKampong as a new brand they don’t have big software team and to main quality of software they can’t release update to all the phone at same time

      3 months later

It’s time to change software policy at least provide 4 major android updates for upcoming big models like 3 or 4 and 5 years of security updates…😐

Can you consider 5 year of software update
