OS 3.0, one noticeable problem affecting the user experience is the inconsistent sizing between Home Screen Widgets and the Quick Settings Panel. This inconsistency detracts from the seamless, polished look expected from a modern operating system and creates a jarring experience for users transitioning between the two interfaces.

Observations:

Size Imbalance: The Home Screen Widgets often appear disproportionate when compared to the more compact and dense layout of the Quick Settings Panel.

Design Disparity: While both elements follow the OS’s design language, subtle variations in padding, spacing, and iconography result in a lack of visual coherence.

User Interface Flow: Moving from the home screen to the Quick Settings Panel feels less fluid due to these mismatched sizes, disrupting the overall interface harmony.

RapidZapper I totally agree what you mentioned. But eventually to match the design language and to make it look consistent everywhere there has to be an option. If you look the quick setting icons on OS 3 and OS 2.6 they are bigger in size than what they were.

I spent a year with the design of 5 icons and finally I changed to 4 so that everything is more homogeneous. Now I wouldn’t go back to the 5 icons, it’s too crowded. Give it a chance 🙂

RapidZapper My first thought exactly, I’m also a five row user, because I prefer the smaller icon size mostly, so it is kind of odd comparing the four row design of the quick settings with a five row configured homescreen.

RapidZapper If I choose a five-row layout, it means I prefer smaller icons. So, it would be great if the quick settings and lock screen widgets also followed the five-row design. However, the design team currently seems focused on a four-row layout.

Why the QS settings is all white background in light theme? Previously it was good with dark background. I don’t want dark theme but a dark background QS layout. Flashlight and music visualization is getting red after turned on. Please make all the tile highlight red if you want to keep the white background. Please do something about it.

Yeah the font size on OS3 is way bigger in everything than it was on OS 2.6. It looks much better on 2.6, OS 3 feels like its running in 720P lol

KarlKeppler I changed the smallest width value in developer settings to 420 from the default 411 and now everything’s perfect, display wise. Icons and overall visuals aren’t too small or too big. Allowing to enter manual values should have been allowed by Nothing by default rather than users having to navigate all the way to developer settings..
