Feature Request 35: Nothing’s own Communication Suite of Apps Are Google’s Communication Suite of Apps good enough? -I doubt. There isn’t a month that Google Dialer and Messages are not riddled with some sort of bugs, be it battery draining issue or buttons disappearing after making a call to someone etc. and some controversial issue like Sending users data without permission. I feel developing Nothing Dialer/Phone, Contacts and Messaging App with Nothing’s unique visual language would be a wise decision, just not to duplicate some Google Apps but to better the user experience.

As shared here by @Dan🧑💻 (#62374) Why don’t you build a Nothing (insert existing app here)? We get a lot of requests from the community to build things like a Nothing Dialler, Messaging app or Calculator. We did build a Nothing Weather app, but haven’t expanded much beyond that. I can understand for many of you it is frustrating to drop out of the Nothing world into the Android world. The main reason we haven’t done this is comparing the cost to the benefit it brings. The dialler is a good example - there is a lot of regulation and requirements from carriers for diallers, covering things like emergencies and accessibility. The Google app also provides things like call screening, spam protection and caller ID. Building a new dialer is harder than it looks, and isn’t just a one-off cost - we’d have to keep spending money on it every time there was an Android update, regulatory change or carrier need. At the size we are, that would mean we’d have to deprioritize a lot of other things that we think are more valuable. It is again a question of prioritisation - if we did it, we’d either have to charge more for our phones, or do much less with our other software. The dialler is a very mature product - we don’t think there’s much value we can add in how it works right now. It would look better. It would not work better. We could make a calculator look like its from Nothing, but we can’t invent new Nothing maths. For the near future at least, we will be leaving most of the Google apps as-is, and focusing on making the overall OS shell and a few hero apps feel very Nothing.

Why there is no music app of nothing on its own 😭???

nobody____

coz no one really listens offline music? and its not really good idea to make 1 for couple of users when you are a big company.

Deepak_Karki

Is it original or some fan made as it is made by missing core? 🤔

Anonymous1123

Deepak_Karki Because offline listeners require a lot of control and small features in many different players, such that a single Nothing player won’t be useful. I constantly switch between OuterTune and Musicolet

Hi,

I want nothing’s own dialler with secret recorder, sometimes we get scammers call they try to scare and scam, but if I try to record phone call they cut the call.

So please give us a nothing’s personal dialler.

As other brands provides for the safety and security of their users, as my brother have vivo phone they provide inbuilt call recorder without any alert.

The nothing music app is the best app idea to develop in future because people nowadays are using Spotify or apple music to have good quality of music and having less quality of audio I mean the streaming quality we would make it free for them. I am saying this because this attracts more people for music which has high streaming quality of audio and having nothing style app for music is known to be a good Idea hope so.

Also another idea of “Nothing store” a place like app store and play store. This bring the more trust of people see nothing’s development quick and early.

These app can improve I hope soo.

I found this wierd Idea in my brain.😂😂

Also what I want to say is that the nothing has only widget for music simulation and not app for music specifically so I consider to take this as a small concern..

Many of us expected the Nothing Dialer and Messaging app to arrive by now in the update 4.0, but we still don’t have them. If you think these apps should be prioritized, vote and let the community know why!

Yup, it’s nice to have but google dialer and messaging also performing very well. Would request if they could do better than that like xiaomi, samsung, vivo. They should have built a nothing File Manager app too. I am not used to google file manager , wanted something better

I agree with Nothing making their own apps for the basics. However, unlike iOS, you basically end up with doubled apps and, sometimes, worse functionality for the non-Google apps.
