Did you know that in addition to using Pokémon as internal codenames for products, Nothing also uses video games as codenames for Nothing OS versions?
So far they’ve all been relatively old games 🕹️
The chosen titles also make up the first part of OS build numbers which you can view in: Settings > About phone and clicking the image of your device… lets dig into which games have been used so far:
Spacewar! - Phone (1)

Spacewar! is a space combat game developed in 1962 by Steve Russell for the PDP-1 computer. It features two spaceships, the “Needle” and the “Wedge”, battling each other in a two-dimensional space with a central star providing a gravitational-pull mechanic.
Pong - Phone (2)

Pong is a game that simulates table tennis, developed by Atari in 1972. It’s a super basic 2D game where two players control paddles to hit an electronic ball back and forth.
Pacman - Phone (2a)
+ ‘Pacman Pro’ - Phone (2a) Plus

Pacman is an arcade game designed by Toru Iwatani in 1980. Players control a yellow, pizza-shaped character named Pacman who navigates through a maze, eating dots and fruits while trying to avoid four ghosts.
Tetris - CMF Phone 1

Tetris is a classic puzzle game made by Alexey Pajitnov in 1985. The game involves moving geometric shapes called tetrominoes that fall from the top of a playing field - players need tl rotate and move these pieces to create complete horizontal lines.
Is there a rhyme or reason to how these codenames are chosen? I can’t work it out… 🤔
Whether we solve it or not, it’s still a fun Easter egg and I look forward to seeing what codenames come next!
