📱 CMF Phone 1 - Nothing OS V3.0-250111-2249 Changelog

ManikSChandel I just got this phone, and unfortunately I was incorrectly suggested by my current service provider: US Mobile, to buy their Lightspeed (T-Mobile) SIM for 4 dollars and they ship in 2 days though which is cool. But so I went through this whole process of contacting support for the second time in order to swap to this new SIM I got in the mail. Coming from my old Verizon SIM, comparatively in my area T-Mobile is absolutely atrocious and spotty as can be. Sure, I get 5G and good speeds, but what good is that if I can’t even use it half of my area? Plus I never get full bars, only max I’ve ever even seen was 3 bars. Ridiculous, I guess I’m only complaining now for no reason haha. I just hate T-mobile with a passion IDK why…

Is that just me or is it because I live in a smaller town on the East Coast, or is T-Mobile known for being spotty? I don’t get it cuz AT&T and Verizon work just amazing, I think Sprint is also in the same boat in my area as well. Just interesting… At least in the end the support rep whenever I contacted them yesterday for the third time said they’re shipping me a “Dark Star” (AT&T) Sim now free of charge due to the incorrect recommendation from earlier, so I’m happy I guess now. AT&T in my area is the best coverage you can get, and I’ve always had great experience whenever I was using AT&T long ago, never once had any issues with coverage or speeds.

May I ask what phone service you have?

I do not think these phones play well with Verizon SIM cards, not sure if it’s the bands in the phone or what but I tried my Verizon sim and it didn’t even get RCS chat, perhaps I needed to get the sim configured properly for my specific phone though, not sure at this point since they pretty much just said it’s not compatible with my phone when I asked them if I can use a Verizon sim with my CMF… At least that’s what US Mobile said. I think I did read online people having trouble’s with Verizon on the CMF phone, but I haven’t looked into too much thankfully I can switch SIM’s. I guess I’d be screwed if I actually had Verizon and not US Mobile though.

Previously my Nord N10 5g worked just fine with Verizon with LTE usually full bars, so no clue. Even had RCS chat and visual voicemail within Google dialer, the whole sh-bang besides 5G because the nord has terrible 5g bands for US. Can you even believe T-Mobile still has not fixed their Google visual voicemail, YOU STILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THAT AWFUL PINK APP AND THEY CHARGE A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION FOR TRANSCRIPTIONS OF THE VOICEMAILS WHEN GOOGLE DIALER DOES THAT FOR FREEEEE!!!!! So you can hopefully understand why I HATE T-mobile now. Anyways, so that makes me think it’s the bands in the device itself like I said that Verizon uses that this phone is missing I guess…

Sorry for the rant, just hoping something finds this that’s having issues like me with US Mobile, or perhaps even another similar phone provider. Cheers guys, I do hope we get these simple features that was listed by everyone in an upcoming update though.

SwayamKesarkar Also, I figured out I had this same issue, my WiFi at certain points would randomly stop working, and it would refuse to reconnect saying no internet or something like that. Even after a few reboots, clearing my saved wifi passwords multiple times and reconnecting again multiple times, but “NOTHING”. What fixed it for me was change the setting if you click on your wifi network itself or hold and edit settings manully, then change the part where it says “Random MAC address” or something and switch that to Device MAC Address instead of Random and it instantly started working. I’m unsure maybe it’s on my end, and it’s my router being wonky with it, but I thought I’d give this suggestion.

Bro this nothing os 3.0 is damn awesome. those ai based drawer those r a great idea. But the one thing that makes me unhappy is there’s no transparent effect anywhere. Transparent effect makes the phone look lot premium. And make ur own apps for call dialer, messager and alot. Even transparent effort in app folders in the home screen. Then bring out the circle to search for all the nothing and cmf phones, that will make the people to get attracted. And atlast just get rid of the google stuffs. That makes the phone look a bit cheaper. Create ur own search engines like samsung has there own internet browser. Create ur own ai assistant. And try to have all the future even in budget phones too that will make ur brand stand away from other brands.

NothingAlone I have found out, if you’re using a 3rd party launcher and happen to have a ROOTED CMF phone as well you can simply install the app “Edge Gestures” and then set up Home and Recents for the bottom area, I used a DPI of 20 I think so not very big for the bottom edge. Then I disabled the left and right edge’s completely. While keeping Navigation gestures enabled, you need to firstly “Hide the Navigation Bar” so that the Pill is not visible anymore, should be in Lockscreen settings. After that you’ll need Iconify + LSPosed module installed (Jinx github fork). Now you must go into Iconify after enabling both LSposed module as well as Magisk module which should be installed I think automatically by the app from my memory, but maybe not. Just google Iconify and you’ll find the installation guide as well.

Lastly, the only thing left is to completely disable your System Gestures, so that it doesn’t conflict with “Edge Gestures” app. Only way I found in Android 15 EVEN with root, to disable the Navigation bar completely only, was to use Iconify go to the “Tweaks” tab on the bottom then Navigation Bar, then scroll all the way to the bottom and set the “Bottom Space” option to 2 DP. This seems to pretty much disable them from even working at all. THANKFULLY I CAN USE NOVA LAUNCHER NOW FINALLY. i REGRETY UPDATING TO 3.0 BECAUSE AS SOON AS I SET UP MY NOVA LAUNCHER ON MY NEW PHONE I RECEIVED THE OS 3.0 UPDATED AND IT BROKE MY NOVA LAUNCHER. Frustrating to say the least, so I didn’t give up, anyways hope this helps somebody.

This is widely known issue, the flickering and weird animation when trying to go back to the homescreen happens on other phones as well, I think it may have even been around since android 14 but it’s weird because it was working just fine for me with 14. I think this is an issue Google may need to fix themselves, no idea though I’m just bored and typing for no reason now. Although, another simple fix is just using the 3 button Navigation classic bar, but I really wanted to give these gesture’s a try and it worked out! You can also set up a quick switch between apps like ALT-Tabbing in windows, you simply set up swipe right or left in “Edge Gesture” and it brings up this Alt-tab menu you can cycle through by swiping left or right to switch to apps super quick in a flash. Better than system gestures, for sure.

I think my rant is over for today though, hope I could have helped someone who happens to also have root and specifically happen to have this ANNOYING issue. I would imagine a decent amount of people that buy this phone does root it anyways.

This was the only absolutely only method I found to be able to use 3rd party launchers with this new Nothing OS 3 / Android 15 update. I found out that 3rd party launcher + System NAvigation Gestures are bugged for some reason, so by doing this it’s a work-around to be able to use your favorite launchers!!!

My CMF phone was updated today and I love the improvements, great stuff! Thank you Nothing! I love when tech is minimalistic and sophisticated at the same time. The customizations allow me to be even more efficient with my swipes and gestures. So appreciate the efforts.

Just a couple of suggestions I had, please consider only if you think it makes sense.

• On the lock screen, the widget to toggle call mode (ring, vibration, mute) used to turn red when in ring mode. It doesn’t anymore. I loved that red accent. Could that be added? Love that I can select the mode with a single touch now, where previously I had to cycle through the options.
• The brightness slider is right at the bottom of the notification shade. To get to it, one has to swipe down twice. If the slider was placed in a way it appeared at the bottom, or top for that matter when swiped down once, that would improve efficiency. I change brightness often. If others do not, then this is an unnecessary requirement.
