Hey y’all, I was just thinking of the possibility that the next version of the CMF phone could have Pogo pin type connector on the inside of the case, similar to Motorola modular phone. (But that phones pins are on the outside)

That way it would be easier to mod and add electronic components easier such as batteries, flashlights, headphone jacks, or maybe even a full 1 inch senor for a Camera! (Though that would take a lot of work)

Anyways, I’ve always like the idea of a bigger sensor like on the Xiaomi 12s or Xperia phones so if y’all have any ideas of any designs with a pogo pin connecter leave them below!

It’s a great idea but the problem with module phones are that people don’t buy them, very few people consider buying such phones. Moto had it and tried to mainstream the design but failed. LG tried tgat too but failed. HMD tried this with their latest HMD Fusion device but that didn’t fulfill their expectations. Nowadays most people don’t dare to try different things, they don’t bother to standout from the crowd.

I bought the CMF1 for the modularity and even bought translucent and glow-in-dark rear covers.

Having said that, the pricepoint of the CMF1 is so low by UK standards that it’s price is a major driving factor in its purchase (£169).

Sourav_Satvaya Yeah its kinda sad, but I feel like with the CMF 1 and nothing in general stands out against most of the phones right now and I have no idea how hard it would be to put a usb connection type pogo pins underneath the plastic cover but it would be cool if there was another way to connect with the phone in some way other than the main usb c port.

Definitely a cool idea, I reckon that everyone would say they are just copying that phone with interchangeable backs (can’t remember what it was called)

JXRules01 Ig its not to good for marketing if everyone thinks CMF is a copy cat, but damn I wish people didnt judge phones like that. Plus there are barely any phones out there like that.

But at the same time the moto z4 was released back in 2019 so there is a chance that many may have forgotten and if CMF continues to be budget friendly I dont think many people who are looking for modular phones would look down on it.

Unless, of course, they hate nothing just cuz its different.

Another note is that CMF 1 was sorta marketed as a (mechanically) “modular” phone but mainly bought for its price (I think), so actually developing modules for it is not NOTHING’s main focus, but I think if they added usb type pins that allow consumers to connect to the phone while leaving the main usb c port open it would also not be seen as a much of a “modular” gimmick and attract more hobbists. (maybe, maybe not idk how marketing works)

I really wish that cmf phone 2 will have the same removable back because I always get phone phone dirty while working and I can’t afford to buy another cover so I just take the cover out and clean it 😁
