In the settings it is clearly said that “high” refresh rate turns on 120 Hz for all the time. But there is a few places where it falls short. First of all there are apps and games like google classroom, soul knight, geometry dash, subway surfers and I suppose that it is not a full list, that are permanently stuck at 60 fps. Next thing is a bit more strange, if the video, that is playing, takes up more that some particular portion of the screen, the refresh rate also falls back to 60 Hz. And the last thing is, if the display is not touched for about 4 seconds the refresh rate also drops to 60 Hz, meaning that if there was anything on screen, that was moving in 120 fps, it will drop to 60 fps and that looks horrible. The strangest thing is, that if I were to open any program in pop up view, all of the problems listed above disappear. This is clearly a sign that something is up with the “high” refresh rate mode itself and not the apps. All things together make the “high” refresh rate look more like “adaptive, but a little less” and it is not how it should work.

AgentY In games it will be at 60 only except bgmi/pubg and regarding video watching it’s is to save battery and to maximize the video watching time and regarding touch also it’s same to save battery

High refresh mode is totally messed up on this phone, amongst so many other things. I don’t play any games. But if there’s any video embedded with text on the screen, or any moving content at all, and you try to scroll through them, the phone lags immensely. Try with Amazon review section, YouTube main page, Facebook. I really don’t know how many apps, probably all of them. An absolutely stupid implementation of high refresh. It only stays at 120 when the contents on the screen are static.

AgentY that wait for next update notification other solution it’s weird why did it made things worse for me it causes no problems

AgentY tik tok supports 120hz, so does YouTube but the nothing 2a runs them in 60 FPS usually, or worse when it’s set on 120hz in the settings, it lags like crazy

SamarthNP1 This has been a software issue since the release of the phone. I’ve reported it numerous times, but they do nothing.

Caden I din’t know about tik tok, but youtube seems to be running in 120 fps, exept shorts. This is due to another “limitation” of the phone, when video takes up more than some set amount of screen space(somewhere around 50%) the screen falls back to 60 hz. You can notice it everywhere, where videos are shown, gallery, youtube, you name it.

Yeah it’s called terrible optimisation 120hz working significantly worse than 90hz . Maybe intentional maybe not. No phone has ever done that before lmao. Nothing is leading everyone on the subject of rubbish.
