SustainableUser Sustainability as in what? You’re using a bad example here because Oneplus chargers will only charge oneplus phones FAST. Otherwise you’re going to have a normal 5w-10w charge rate, which is why it would take 2 or more hours. If your wondering about using older chargers like that I don’t think there’s anyway you could damage the phone really. It will just charge slower, and as far as compatibility with PD 3.0 and PPS, I even am using a charger without PPS, it’s a 10 dollar wall plug from FiveBelow. It’s just a GaN 3.0 charger, no PPS mentioned anywhere. I get 20-25W charge with this and it’s good enough for me. I believe without PPS you just will not reach that full 30watt fast charge, I highly doubt it would cause any kind of damage or anything to the phone. (Definitely someone correct me if I’m incorrect but I would doubt the phone would allow “overcharging” or charging faster than the 30watt designed charging rate.)
So in all honesty I’d say these phones are pretty “sustainable” for using most types of chargers, other than say Oneplus or Brands that use their own proprietary fast charging hardware, designed to work with only their brand of devices… Even though that charger says it is compatible with PD 3.0 and PPS, something tells me it doesn’t line up if it’s not working with your phone. And considering the phones I’ve had in the past were all Oneplus, and I know how much of a pain in the rear end it was to find any other brand that would fast charge those phones. I’m going to assume it’s a “Oneplus thing.”
These phones are more “universal” I’d say as far as charging goes. For example you don’t have many options when purchasing a fast charger for Oneplus phones, you basically have to buy Oneplus brand. At least for us on Nothing phone’s do not have to rely on paying 30 dollars for a charger.
So tbh, I’d have to say it is very sustainable. We have way more options and brands to choose from when purchasing a fast charger than other phones like Apple and or Oneplus… We can even simply use a common brand like ANKER (Just make sure you specifically search for “PD 3.0 PPS Charger”) or whatever you wanna go with. I’m a cheapo recently but I plan to buy a more expensive one with 3 ports some day…. There like 30 bucks though jeez. For now I’ll just take up an entire extension cord to charge my stuff, that’s totally fine. Lmao 😂
