Dear Nothing Team,
As a proud owner of the newly launched Nothing Phone 3a (codename: Asteroids), I am writing to request the release of its kernel source code. Your commitment to open-source principles and developer communities has set Nothing apart in an industry where such support is increasingly rare. With many brands restricting customization, Nothing remains the last bastion enabling enthusiasts to fully harness their device’s potential through projects like custom ROMs, kernels, and mods.
Under the GNU General Public License (GPL v2), the Linux kernel modifications used in the Phone 3a must be made publicly available. Timely access to these sources will empower developers to innovate and elevate the device’s capabilities, fostering the same vibrant ecosystem seen with earlier models like the Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2a
The Phone 3a’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset and advanced camera features present exciting opportunities for community-driven optimization. By releasing the kernel sources, you’ll further solidify Nothing’s reputation as a brand that values transparency and user empowerment. We can expect custom ROMs and GCam Mods too.
Could you share a timeline for the kernel source release or provide a repository link for developers? As a recent purchaser of the Phone 3a, I’m eager to contribute to its growth and ensure it continues standing out in a market that often sidelines tinkerers.
Thank you for your dedication to the developer community. I look forward to your response
