Hey all. I’m excited to be introducing something new today: Nothing Chats. Those green messaging bubbles can feel like a barrier between you and other smartphone users. But we’ve found the solution. Nothing Chats is a first-of-its-kind app developed in partnership with Sunbird, which allows you to message other iMessage users via blue bubbles on your Nothing Phone. At Nothing, we believe in windows, not walls. If messaging services are dividing phone users, then we want to break those barriers down. If you’re in the US, Canada, UK or EU and have a Phone (2), you can download the Nothing Chats app on the Play Store from Friday. The app is currently in Beta, and we’re working hard to bring Nothing Chats to more places. If it’s not available in your country just yet, sign up for our newsletter and we’ll let you know as soon as it is. Hi all, as many of you know, we removed Nothing Chats beta from the Play Store last November and paused usage after security issues were raised. Thank you for your patience while we continue to work through this situation. Today, Sunbird announced that it will relaunch its app. At this time, we are not relaunching Nothing Chats. Although we believe in breaking down communication barriers, our users’ privacy is a top priority for Nothing and we do not take last November’s events lightly. We will continue to assess the best course of action that enables us to do right by our users.

So far it takes around 3-4min to send a message and to receive one. During the activation I got a message that I am binded to a Sunbird machine in US, but I am in Europe. Not sure if this is the main reason for the delay.

Same in here. The system sends me a link that I should click on to get a QR code, but then it just spins endlessly.

I’m trying it as we speak. Connecting Google rcs was a little bit hard cause the app was crushing or sunbird wasn’t generating the QR code. Maybe because I’m based in Italy but I don’t see the need to such a thing. It’s definitely something big in the US but not here where everyone use WhatsApp. Aside from that kudos to nothing for always improving and bringing something new. I appreciate it as a user.

A few bugs I’ve experienced

sometimes the blinking bar when typing disappears.
When I look into accounts connected I see that google rcs is disabled but when taping on the “show or hide message types” I see it enabled.

I’ll update this post if I find new bugs
