Unable to setup Android auto on Phone (3a) - help

I received my Nothing Phone 3a Pro today and I'm really pleased with it but for some odd reason I cannot get the Android auto to work. I've tried restarting, switching cables, removing updates and updating again etc. All the common fixes you can find on the internet. I've tried messing about with the usb configurations but nothing (pun intended) seems to work. I've attached a photo of the issue that shows up on the cars infotainment screen. As seen on the photo when connected to the car it says that the device is called VOLCANO-QRD something something something, however when I connected the BT it shows up as Nothing Phone (3a) Pro. My car only has wired android auto and it works with a pixel 7 that is on android 15 as well. Can somebody help me? Same problem here, only got the 3A Pro yesterday, it worked the first time, but today it won’t connect, tried various cables, the wife’s Samsung works ok so it’s the phone that has a problem, this phone will get returned if they don’t fix it quickly.

I’m in the same boat. Got my Nothing phone 3a pro 2wks ago and have been trying to connect android auto (wired connection) to my Kia Sportage 2017. Not the cable or the car’s fault (as it connects all good with my google pixel 6pro and iPhone 15).

Tried all the above suggestions but no luck.

Any luck on this?

First time to use nothing phones and I hope this one isn’t a deal-breaker (it’s beginning to be already on my end).

New with Nothing phone 3a pro from Greece . Car Skoda scala 2022 model .

Same problem here and i see that this thread is opened 2 months ago and still no fix .

I am starting to think if i made the right choice buying this phone

Same here with an Opel Corsa E from 2017. Before the Nothing, I bought a Pocophone F7 that had the same issue, so I think the problem is Android 15.

To solve the problem in the meantime by myself I bought an Android Auto dongle at Amazon (PAUNEZUEL DXTD-020-4-1+) that works flawlessly.
Hope they fix it soon!

Android auto is one of the main features that someone uses today , for his work , for his private life . This feature is working good on cheap Chinese phones that cost 50$ , why not on Nothing phone ?

The worst thing is that is seems that NO ONE CARES .

I tried everything that i could to connect to my wired android auto, it doesn’t seem to work. Things that i’ve tried:

change cables to a high end cable multiple times
reset infortainment
reset android auto
reset the whole phone
debugged phone when plugged into android auto ( no error issues) just didnt start up android auto
went into dev mode with the phone, turned on everything
went to android auto dev mode turned on logging to check whats happening but didnt detect the usb as android auto

literally everything i’ve tried but it failed. FYI i’m using the nothing phone 3a and a nissan terra car. help me please.

MarcinCh little update from me, AndroidAuto in Honda Civic is working again but only with one cable (i tried 5 or 6), in Opel Astra im using now Blow adapter (5900804147794) and it is working fine

I got the 3a pro yesterday and I also have problems with Android auto via cable, I don’t have android auto via bluetooth. At least I can play the bluetooth music but I would like to be able to use the gps and so on again.

Fact, when I connect it by bluetooth for music, the car recognizes the phone as Nothing Phone 3a pro.

But when I connect it by USB the android auto detects it, but with the name: VOLCANO-QRD_SN: DB4069AA

It shows the following message: ‘VOLCANO-QRD_SN: DB4069AA Your mobile device could not be connected’.

Anonymous740 same issue here. Got the 3a pro yesterday and AA does not work, wether with cable nor wireless. I tried multiple cables, tried resetting, usb debugging and all what I could find but it did not help. Sane display name with VOLCANO somethig…. This seems to be a longer issue as they are facing it since March at least and have been unable to fix it.

If any nothing dev reads this, my car is a skoda scala 2022, worked withe every other device but this one….

I have contacted support reporting the problem, detailing it as best as possible and attaching photos and they have told me that they have passed it on to the department in charge of it.

I also sent them the link to this thread so they could see how many people have the same problem. And also that it would be very good if a cm could come by to at least inform that they are working on it and reassure the users. They replied that they would also take it into account.

I hope that this is true and that it will be solved soon….
