As you already know, HDR is not supported on Netflix and Prime Video when using a Nothing device. What if I told you that even YouTube’s HDR is broken on Nothing phones—would you believe it?

Here is a post from December 2023 that discusses this very issue:

I also tweeted about this in great detail regarding the problem I faced:

It turns out this issue persists on most Android devices, but the good news is that I have a solution for you all.
Using this solution, you can watch HDR in its full glory on YouTube, Hotstar, and even on VLC for Android if you have an offline HDR movie or video.
It’s very simple:
1. Enable the developer settings on your device.
2. Search for the “Force 4x MSAA” setting and turn it on.
3. Also, turn on “Disable HW overlays” as shown in the screenshot below.

After that, clear all recent apps, open YouTube, and try watching HDR content on YouTube or Hotstar—you’ll be surprised by the true power of HDR.

Important Note:
Turning on these two options will significantly impact the performance of games and other graphics-intensive apps on your phone. It is recommended to turn them off when you’re not viewing HDR content. Additionally, you will need to re-enable these settings every time you restart your device.
Have fun,
