Here is my latest submission for the Nothing community Software Idea. A Widget thats basically, a Jar.

Jar is a simple tool that helps you shop more mindfully. Before you open your favorite shopping app, Jar asks you to set aside a small amount—like $1—in a physical or digital savings jar. Once you do, you unlock a set amount of browsing time (for example, $1 gives you 10 minutes).

It’s a gentle way to pause and ask, “Do I really want to spend right now?” Instead of endless scrolling, you start to shop with purpose. And over time, you’ll build a savings habit without even thinking about it.

Moreover, you can also add your addictive applications to the widget settings or check your leaderboard who is beating who when it comes to saving some bucks.

Jar turns shopping into a conscious choice, not a reflex.
It’s not about saying no, it’s about saying “not yet… and maybe after I’ve saved a buck.”

Because hey; your future self called.
They said thanks for the jar full of dollars and way fewer regrettable 3AM purchases.

Cheers,

Ali Fakhruddin

My bank has a jar into my account - every time, I’m buying anything, system rounds up to full number and this cents sends on the other, hidden account. Since I’ve started to use this service, I’m additionally saving about 20-30 euros per month. It’s not great savings, but it work as a money spending market - more savings means, I’ve spent more.

What I’m trying to say here - this jar idea looks absolutely great and I will definitely use it!

Sergey_F CaptainOatmeal thanks a lot guys. This is also good for teenagers as they tend to spend a lot on unnecessary things online ending up in debt. It doesnt stop you from shopping, but taking a step back and saving FIRST. Imagine you save $1 or$ 5 a day, thats a lot for a month or even 6 months. Considering that as your emergency fund. Hope this idea helps.

Ali Fakhruddin great, I will try and maybe use it.

How will you do that the jar will fill up if you get money, and when you pay? Will it be syncing with Google pay? Or have you to give it the information manually? If it will be synced with GPay, there will be a little problem, because the cmf phone 1 don’t support it(I hope the cmf 2 will.) .someone wrote this will be grade for Teenagers… they can’t you it officially because of Google politics.

Lien The original idea is the have a piggy bank, a physical one at home or office. The moment you open an app, it triggers you to pay first to the Jar. Kinda your savings. Before you spend.
