I’d like to have a Nothing laptop. What features do you think it would have? I’ll soon be designing a concept of what it would look like, thinking like Nothing.
What would you like to see from a Nothing Laptop?
Joseph_Developer dunno about features but definitely will be experience with cheap hardware lmao
SamarthNP1 But I think it would be very premium, I currently have my Nothing Phone 3a Pro and my Cmf by Nothing Watch pro 2, their quality is crazy, I’m thinking of getting the Nothing Ear Stick.
Lets see a metal build with good ips display a amd or intel cpu for choice with integrated graphics the dot font as the backlight for the lid (like those from the rog laptops) but minimal. Some red accents on ports with all of the ports given.
Being IT for decades, I already can tell you that it’s kinda difficult (If not Impossible) to just enter the overcrowded laptop market without a huge financial loss and stagnant sales, If it was THAT easy then Samsung would also have swept the masses given the Galaxy lineup popularity.
Lenovo, Sager, HP, Dell, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Vaio, Gigabyte, MSI, ACER need to say more brands, it’s already overcrowded…
It’s Best to focus on what you are already good and make it better, faster, stronger IMO
AN_MAXIMUS_ Well, I think what you want is a gaming laptop, I want something more work style.
I hope they just focus on perfecting their phones.
etidorhpa They can get stuck on phones and headphones.
I’ll like to have an actual smartphone that can replace everything a laptop does…
I’m trying hard to get rid of my computer usage and only work from phone

I’m not convinced a Nothing Laptop would make sense financially. As @o0SGR0o mentioned, the space is already crowded with competitors so I don’t see how Nothing would differentiate itself. To make laptops financially viable you need to appeal to corporate or institutional buyers where the majority of sales are, which often come with particular requirements like MDM enrolment, asset management, and a level of long-term support which Nothing does not have the scale to do.
Something I do see as possible is Nothing breaking into the tablet space as there are only two real players, Apple and Samsung, the former with over 50% market share. Samsung’s offerings are quite poor and I would argue only popular because of the lack of Android alternatives. Creating a value proposition to compete with the iPad could potentially seize some market share.
Regardless though, I think Nothing’s time is better spent on expanding its phone business. It doesn’t have proper presence in most countries and is currently dependent on the Indian market. Breaking into North America and building its market capitalisation in Europe should definitely be the priorities.
ByWell I don’t think the phone can replace a computer, for a programmer that would be the death of him.
Joseph_Developer The first thing would be the design of the laptop itself. For me, the ideal would be to go with the Teenage Engineering design. The next would be a system completely autonomous from Windows and MacOS based entirely on NothingOS.
Automata Very good ideas, that complements the current ecosystem very well.
Joseph_Developer why would it be the death for him?
I’m not a programmer but I still manage projects, having a phone do it all would make sens for me.
please enlighten me!
ByWell I’m a programmer, and programming from a phone would be the death of me because we have to manage files that are too large and we also need big screens for our eyes.

Joseph_Developer Got it! and I’m totally on your side for that, what about a Screen/keyboard station that your phone is connected into, would it make it?
I’m saying that because I’m dreaming of a phone that act like a desktop on the web and also without the restriction of having an “appstore”.
Obviously some activity need biggers screen and even bigger GPU etc.
That is when a enhanced station come to the solution, while everything is on your Smartphone, it can connect to any station and bring the flow state into enhancement.
Tell me what you think, obviously I’m getting a little off topic. But still may be relevent.
Automata I like your ideas,
Would the Nothing OS would be compatible with the smartphone or in a different realm?
and would an laptop OS like that would try to replicate the formula of “appstore” like the microsoft store?
ByWell Well, I think I’ll take note of what you told me, it would be nice to have a screen and keyboard with a mouse that connects to the device, but, I feel like it would be the same as a laptop.
