Hey @adbo, appreciate you giving the community a voice before the board meeting. I know you and the mod team do a lot behind the scenes and I think it means a lot to everyone here—so thank you for keeping this initiative alive!!
Here are my thoughts for this quarter:
Power-Off Verification – Still Not Working
This feature just doesn’t work…like At all. And when it did, it was basically useless—you could still bypass it without any real barrier. It’s frustrating because the potential is huge. In today’s world where data security and theft are real concerns, having proper verification before powering off the device should be a standard, not a wishlist item. Would love to finally see this implemented properly.
Weather App – Not Matching Real-Time Conditions
The stock Weather app still feels a little under baked. Animations don’t always load or sync properly, and the data often doesn’t line up with more established sources like Google Weather or AccuWeather. I love the minimalist UI, but it needs to be more accurate and responsive to truly be a go-to app.
Phone (3a) Pro – Great Hardware, Some Questions
Personally, I think it’s an ambitious addition and gives the 3a Pro a serious edge in zoom photography. Images are crisp and detailed—great job there. But it also raises some concerns:
The bump design feels a little awkward compared to the rest of the phone’s aesthetic.
Battery life takes a slight hit during heavy camera use, and thermal performance varies.
The Essential Space button… I’m still not sold. It’s just not intuitive or customizable enough.
Upgrading from a 2a or Phone (2) doesn’t feel justified unless you’re really into mobile photography. Some software differentiation would help here—otherwise it’s just hardware chasing headlines.
Patch Updates – Hit or Miss Lately
One frustrating thing is the inconsistency in patch rollout. Some users are getting updates weeks late, others not at all. Even after reaching out, devs/mods often just redirect to generic answers or remain silent. Better transparency would go a long way.
Nothing Gallery (Again)
Still waiting on those features promised months ago—AI upscaling, image segmentation, resolution boost, built-in editor. Even basic stuff like setting a wallpaper or cropping a photo still hands off to other apps. If it’s meant to be the default gallery, it needs to be fully functional. Otherwise, it’s just visual flair without the function.
Original Nothing Phone (1) – One More Year of OS Updates?
This was the first-ever product from Nothing and still holds up in many areas. Would it be possible for the team to consider offering one additional year of OS updates for the Phone (1)? A lot of users still love the device including ME, and many other companies have extended OS support for iconic or well-selling devices before. It would show that Nothing values long-term support and customer loyalty—especially for the early adopters who believed in the brand from the very start.
