Bifrost My guess its for security reasons. The Bluetooth could easy handle it. But wouldn’t want your neighbours etc just plug in and listen in to your private conversations/music/movies/. Would be like playing on a Bluetooth live speaker. But as Nothing X now is one app for all devices, it opens possibilities for some kind of account based share between devices. As some one mention “I miss it from my samsung or apple…” they allow it through software like Samsung Dual Audio and Apple Audio Sharing(only apple/beats) that shares media trough same network or samaung/apple account. Maybe the purpose of Nothing X-app is to do this in the future.
But the hardware can do it 100%.
Edit: Looking at the latest Nothing X update, my best guess is that the solution will be Auracast via Bluetooth LE Audio. The hardware is already capable(BT5.2+), and the security issue (like neighbors listening in) is solved by using encrypted streams that you join via a QR code. It works just like sharing a guest Wi-Fi safe, simple, and standard-based.
If you don’t want to wait for official software updates to unlock Auracast on your devices, you can “force” the feature right now using a workaround. By plugging a specialized USB-C Auracast transmitter (like the Creative BT-W6 or Avantree C82) into your Nothing Phone, you bypass the phone’s internal software limits. The dongle handles the Auracast broadcast itself.
⚠️Though atm Nothing ear(2) , Nothing ear(a) and Nothing ear(2024) has BT-5.3 LE Audio protocol support. And thats a very important detail, if you have other brand that does not support LE Audio (LC3 codec), PBP (Public Broadcast Profile) it wont work. BT-5.3 is not guarantee.
