My name is Michael Atkins I am an Automotive Design Student, and this is my entry for the 2025 Hardware Design Contest, and it’s all about London. The design takes heavy inspiration from the London Underground, which is more than just a transit system, it’s a key part of the city’s identity. The clean lines and bold colours are a nod to the iconic Underground map, designed by Harry Beck. He took something complex and made it simple and intuitive, which is the same approach I aimed for in this design. The lines also subtly reference the wiring looms found in modern tech, giving the piece both a functional and aesthetic edge. Given that Nothing is based in London, this design feels like a natural tribute to the city’s influence on both the brand and my work.
