After updating to Nothing OS V3.2-251103-2121, I have noticed several significant regressions in both camera performance and overall system smoothness. I wanted to formally share my observations, as these issues are affecting the day-to-day experience of using the device.
Camera Performance Issues
Low-Light Quality Has Degraded
Low-light images now suffer from excessive blooming, blown-out highlights, and a substantial drop in detail. The previous balance and clarity in darker environments has noticeably declined.
HDR Toning Has Changed for the Worse
The HDR toning after the update appears less natural, with reduced dynamic range and more frequent clipping in brighter areas.
Slower Shutter Speed and Processing
The shutter response feels slower, making it harder to capture quick moments. The overall capture pipeline seems to have become less efficient.
Inaccurate Skin Tone Rendering
Skin tones are no longer rendered correctly under any lighting condition. The post-processing now makes faces appear overly smoothed, artificial, and unnatural—almost like an AI-generated character.
I have tested this by capturing photos before and after the update under identical lighting and positioning, and the decline is very clear.
General Image Processing Instability
Even non-portrait shots appear less consistent, suggesting that the underlying imaging algorithms may have changed in ways that compromise quality.
System Performance Issues
The device feels less snappy, with slower animations and reduced responsiveness.
