Jerin Jose Hi, I bought the NP2 on launch day, so I can compare the camera then and now. Nothing absolutely improved the camera compared to when it was right out of the box. Initially it had problems with stacked image processing, resulting in rather blurry pictures for night mode, macro outside ideal conditions and sometimes even HDR. Speaking of HDR the highlights were often still blown out, with harsh contrast lines showing artifacts, it especially had issues with slightly moving subjects during HDR. In addition images were more often quite underexposed, something many people didn’t like.
All of these issues were corrected or at least improved within the first half year, from release of the NP2 to the launch of OS 2.5 - so saying Nothing did nothing to improve this phone’s camera is just a lie.
What I can agree with: I still see room for improvement in terms of camera, the image processing quite often seems to be making the final image worse instead of better, resulting in an inconsistent camera performance, especially when compared to my Galaxy Fold 4. The Samsung delivers more consistent and reliable results. The NP2 has shown it is very much capable of delivering good results too - but these results are just too unreliable and I wish Nothing would further work on improving the situation.
I also agree about the Nothing Gallery, it still doesn’t integrate into the camera app for some users of legacy Nothing phones, even though OS 3.0 has been released almost five months(!) ago. It still lacks basic functions like setting an image as wallpaper or basic editing options like image crop. It also still lacks support for .gif files. Considering Nothing promoted their own gallery app as an integral part and a prime feature of OS 3.0, it’s fairly lackluster seeing it still being in such a state. It almost seems like the app is just being a part time project which only gets worked on if the development team has nothing else to do.
