After one week of using the new Nothing Phone (3a) (Blue, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage), I have a few thoughts to share.
Firstly, the concept of more granular control over the Glyph Interface is compelling. The ability to dedicate the glyphs solely to notifications would be a useful option. Furthermore, expanding the customization options for glyphs would be a welcome addition. Imagine being able to choose which voice or sound the glyphs follow, or even having an AI-enabled feature that dynamically generates glyph light patterns for random songs. While custom imports are currently possible for specific songs, an AI-driven solution for this would be a significant improvement.
I’ve encountered a concerning issue with the compass app. Despite having location services enabled and refreshing the app, it consistently displays West (W) when facing East (E), and vice versa. As a recent purchaser, I’m still exploring potential solutions within the UI, which I appreciate for its lack of bloatware.
The haptics on the device are satisfactory. However, the touch response could benefit from increased sensitivity. I’ve noticed that softer touches are sometimes not detected, which impacts the overall fluidity of the user experience.
While general app usage feels smooth without noticeable hangs or stutters, the responsiveness occasionally feels slightly delayed for a device in this price range. This is particularly evident with the camera. Switching between focal lengths and zooming often introduces a lag, sometimes as long as 0.5 to 2 seconds. This delay is noticeable and detracts from the overall camera experience.
On a positive note, the Nothing Phone (3a) feels light and comfortable to hold and use.
Overall, while the clean UI and comfortable design are positives, improvements in compass accuracy, touch responsiveness, and camera performance would significantly enhance the user experience and better align with the expectations for this price point.
One exclusive thing i felt is that i liked the part that you guys prioritize security and that i liked and enjoyed and still exploring and enjoying within the devices so keep it up.
