Hello everyone.
I wanted to talk about using external USB audio interface with Nothing phones to record audio.
Currently Nothing OS does not support USB audio interface recording (this is officially confirmed by Nothing support team)
Like, the USB audio interface itself will work with any Nothing phone, I’ve tested it, but the problem is, you can only listen to audio or play with samples or Midi instruments. If you will try to record any audio, the audio will contain a lot of artifacts and the audio will be recorded with incorrect pitch.
This happens because Nothing OS is currently not handling Sample Rate conversion or external audio input processing.
I’m musician, and I really like to make some music on-the-go. Even though I have 14 inch MacBook, it is still too uncomfortable to use in some scenarios. I’m using iRig Pro IO USB pocket audio interface with Cubasis 3 and FL Studio DAWs. I’ve used to connect my Shure SM58 to my iRig Pro IO with a short cable, and connect my USB audio interface to my iPhone 15 or my Samsung A35, and it was a pleasure to be able to monitor live sound and record my vocals.
I was very tired of iPhones in general, so I bought Samsung A35, but I quickly got tired of Samsung’s UI, I really dislike it, but I knew that I still want to use Android and I don’t want to go back to iPhone. I bought CMF Phone 2 Pro, and, oh boy, this is absolutely mind-blowing how good CMF Phone 2 Pro is in every single task, I absolutely love it, but then I took and arrow in the knee, when I realized that I cannot record music on my CMF Phone 2 Pro. It was absolutely heartbreaking for me, because I bought my Samsung for 250€ when I was in Kazakhstan and more than that, even old budget Android devices that I’ve had, were easily handling external USB audio recording.
Is there anyone in this community who tried to create music with external USB audio interface on their Nothing phone?
I just wrote this post to share my feelings. We can just chat here about this topic or any music creation things
