CMF Phone 2 Pro - online specs re dual SIM / microSD misleading

Hey Team Nothing / CMF,

I wanted to share with you that the specs for the CMF Phone 2 Pro on your website are misleading. I ended up returning the CMF Phone 2 Pro 128GB and ordering a Nothing Phone 3a 256GB because I couldn’t use 2 SIMs (I live between two countries) and 1 microSD card (I carry music on-board for long flights).

Whilst the website says:

dual SIM card slots
expandable memory via microSD card slot

… nowhere does it say that the SIM2 slot and the microSD card slot are actually the same, ie. a hybrid slot. So the user actually has only the following options:

1 SIM card + 1 microSD card
2 SIM cards + no memory expansion

Suggest you adjust your marketing materials to somehow explain the hybrid nature of this slot.

Hope this is useful feedback for you, I was disappointed at the time but ultimately happy with the 3a (albeit at greater expense)!

PS - even the 256GB capacity is going to be cutting it fine, assuming this handset lasts me at least 2-3 years like mine normally do. I still think microSD expansion or alternatively greater onboard storage is a critical feature for many users, cloud is nice but not always practical in all use cases.

Hello kranberry , I am also looking for same spec phone - dual sim + microSD option. Bought 3a this week (from outside EU) but it seems to have hybrid sim slot (1sim + either sim or microSD) support only.
Is the spec you mentioned available in EU/elsewhere? Please reply where you got your 3a phone from? Would buy the same.

To be fair, this is the same for many phones, especially budget models. But I agree it should be clearer in the specifications. Enjoy your 3a! I bought a full-fat (3) and love it.

My handset was bought within the EU (Germany) through an official distributor.

My 3a is also the hybrid sim slot like you describe, I ended up buying the 256GB version so that I wouldn’t need the microSD (requiring me to periodically migrate photos/videos off the handset).

The 3a 256GB wasn’t that much more expensive than the CMF 2 Pro 128GB, so this was the path of least resistance in my situation. Hope this helps!

PS - in case this is monitored by the Nothing product team, the ideal spec for my requirements is:

at least 1 hardware SIM slot
at least 1 e-SIM “slot” / capability (given this is software, I guess there should be no limitation how many e-SIMs can be held on a handset within reason)
1 microSD slot that can be used in parallel with at least 2 SIMs (hardware slot + e-SIM)

Got the handset in hand, current version supports only 2 pSIM configuration. It’s 256GB version so hope it will be manageable. Did quite some research but unfortunately 2 pSIM + memory card slot doesn’t seem to be an option anymore! Tough life!!
