Daniel changed the title to IR blaster on future Nothing Phone .

IR blaster have numerous use cases here in India. You can controlled your TV, Set-top box, Fan, Air conditioner, Camera and the options are getting increasing day by day. Also many other brands are also providing it like Oneplus, Vivo, Iqoo, Oppo,Poco and Xiaomi is the leader which is providing it from many years. In fact it is one of the reason people buy Xiaomi phones. It is becoming an all in one remote which can be used for your home appliances and also wherever you go.

I really want an ir blaster. Honestly, not having an ir blaster is a deal breaker for me as I use it a lot to control devices and appliances and a lot of people feel the same way as I do. I will switch from Xiaomi to Nothing when the new phones from Nothing have an inbuilt IR blaster.

Same for me the nothing phone 2 is perfect but the only reason i am still on the fence of buying it is because it doesnt have a built in ir blaster.
they are relatively cheap from what i am seeing the only challange might be that it uses up space and also the phones desing since you are now going to have a black circle at the top most likely. But i feel like they could pull it off to somehow make it a part of the desing.

A welcome move. I’m a trainer who travels a lot and at many locations the projector remote is missing. It’d really be a game changer if another premium phone comes up with IR blaster and NOTHING doesn’t.

same for me…. the only thing stoping me from buying nothing phones is ir blaster … half of the remotes in our home dont work and so we have resorted to be using xaiomi phones as remotes for now .. i love the the nothing os and design how ever cant do without an ir blaster so stuck with xaiomi for now … will switch to nothing as soon as the ir blaster comes

Im used to share a room with my roommate. We have a double decker bed and I am using the upper deck. So during night time before we sleep, we would have a habit of on the air cond and setting timer for the room air cond to off in the next morning. We will switch off the fan while we using air cond. Always the next morning i will be awake due to the bad air circulation after the air cond off. I hate to get down from my upper deck bed to switch on the fan. While currently i got easy way to use phone IR as remote to switch on the fan. That’s may give me a leisurely dizzy morning with no frustration. I will definitely continue look for IR feature in my phone. Hope one day can get using Nothing Phone with IR feature

i dont think IR blaster is usefull for everyone i mean some user need this feature but not everyone use this. In my opion nothing should add Alert Slider with Vibration,Silent,Option

It will be helpful to mist of the users if the IR blaster is given in the future of nothing and comparing in it’s competitor view it will a step forward for nothing.

Absolutely a good call. Many devices have been added and released with IR for a long time ie: Mi, Oppo. I guess Nothing 3 won’t be having this feature, But on the other hand IR can be started for the phones 3a and upcoming. It’ll be a good addition.

It will be great if upcoming nothing phones have IR BLASTER. Many users restrain themself from buying nothing phones due to lack of IR BLASTER and buy some other cheap phones . Because nowadays IR BLASTER has many advantages as you all know. So it’s my humble request to the Nothing team.

If they will do it, my next phone will be Nothing for sure.

Hear it from me Nothing, this are the most users additional mandatory specs that should be included in the upcoming phones to go more viral:

      1- IR blaster.

      2- Real proximity sensor.

      3- NFC.

      4- Amoled screen.

also it will be nice to have:

      5- Colored notifications led.

and sure it will be more nicer if you ignored the curved screens.

      Thank you.

Reviving this thread for visibility. IR blaster would be AMAZING! I’m currently on an iPhone damned near desperate to get back on Android and I’m specifically looking at IR equipped devices. Hoping to hear good news from the 3(a) official announce. Fingers crossed.
