It warms my heart to see how furious new design makes people. Subverting expectations worked and design-wise Nothing pulled the trick once again - that’s a hell of a distinctive phone.
What feels off is how design team doesn’t answer any of the questions it raises.
- What would a modern ai era phone be? - that’s what Carl asks again and again.
Essential space button marked the intention safe enough for an A series, but on a flagship they totally stopped trying, as if there is no hardware answer to the question. I doubt so.
- How to make tech fun again?
The answer is “50 mpx and the same retro futuristic gimmick but completely watered down and 800 pounds”, I guess.
- What turns a phone into a flagship?
Er… premium materials but we choose to use a cheaper glass on a phone that screams “use me without a case”. Cool.
I am a fan boy since the beginning so I expect the quirks and unconventional solutions but this is a step into no direction, a fancy dance on the same spot which is ok but not for me.
