Poor WhatsApp video call quality - help

I am new to Nothing phones and to Android in general. I'm using the Nothing Phone 3a, and I love it for its minimalistic design, especially when coming from an iPhone. However, I've noticed poor video quality during WhatsApp calls. My front-facing and rear-facing cameras seem overly processed, resulting in a surreal effect. On the other hand, the camera performs excellently in other video calls, such as Teams, FaceTime, and Google Meet. This indicates that the issue is specific to WhatsApp, rather than a problem with the Nothing phone itself. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and is there a possible fix? I rely heavily on WhatsApp calls.

[BUG] Nothing Phone (3a) - Poor WhatsApp Video Call Quality (App Optimization)

I am reporting a software optimization issue affecting video call quality, specifically on the WhatsApp application. The video quality is consistently very low, blurry, and pixelated when using both the front and rear cameras.

The cameras work perfectly fine and in high quality on all other third-party video call applications (e.g., Google Meet, MS Teams, Instagram). The issue is confined to WhatsApp.

Video call quality should reflect the excellent camera hardware when connected to a stable high-speed network.

1. Open WhatsApp. 2. Start a video call. 3. Observe the low quality of the camera feed.

Request Please investigate and fix the camera hardware optimization/API access for the WhatsApp application in a future Nothing OS update.

facing the same issue in nothing 3a pro. The video call quality is extremely poor in WhatsApp and messenger App. Both of the camera’s seems so blurry and pix elated.

I have nothing phone 3 and when I open my front on phone camera or recieve any WhatsApp video call the quality of the camera is not up to the mark. I don’t feel the video is displayed in real time and it might be lagging. Moreover, I have checked my connections through wifi and my data. So anyone has any solution regarding this issue please give me any suggestions to solve this issue.

I am facing the same issue. Whatsapp Business used to have better video call quality compared to the regular Whatsapp, but now they are equally terrible. Low framerate, weird contrast and extremely low resolution. Telegram and Instagram have much better quality. The resolution to this issue is long overdue, Nothing.

As of Feb 2026, this problem still persists with Nothing Phone 3 as well. Over processed unnatural colours and frame drops on video calls. I switched from S23 to Phone 3 recently, and in terms of software optimization Nothing OS feels like total downgrade and a generation behind One UI. If Nothing can’t a fix a basic thing in months, then I have doubts about the capabilities of their software team.

Be in 5G network, wifi both with extremmly high speed internet, the call quliaty on whatsapp video is terrible completely pixelated and the voice calls keeps breaking and lagging. Happened with multiple contacts but other phone on same network does not have this issue

Any one else facing this issue?
