Custom glyph matrix icons

Here are a few I have set up so far.

A Red Hat fedora for a work chat
A dice for my board games chat
The Strava logo for all that Strava running kudos
WhatsApp icon kinda self explanatory.

I use a bunch of others of the built in ones but finding making my own fun.

I made this skull icon (for PagerDuty 😛) and a Discord one, but for me, adding it to the custom icons doesn’t work. I select the image but then nothing happens, without error.

beeb aw nightmare. Sorry. Also sorry you have to be on call haha. I remember those days. Sirens at 1am. Never had as strong of a hate for HP Server fans then when I was on call for sky TV 🤣

RuudHesp oh this is cool I will try out I have just been trying hit and miss to make good looking ones…. The dice prob took about 6 attempts haha

My little guide to creating icons for Glyph Matrix:

Look for a minimalist image with a black background — or if you find one with a black drawing on a white background, just invert the colors.
You can use the website Photopea to make a square image, around 150×150px.
Upload it to your Nothing Phone and you’re all set!

I followed your instructions, but unfortunately, after selecting a photo in the “custom” option, literally nothing happens. Actually I cant custom my own glyph.

RuudHesp i was not able to replicate or copy your great koala. Tried but everytime there are black line grid on the icon. Can you share me your clean version? Sorry for asking that 😅

Eukaliptus Same issue here. I reported that to the support and they said that it’s indeed not perfectly working at the moment. Supposedly it’s been forwarded to the devs.

I’m experiencing something else: I have the essential notification properly configured, but more than half the time the custom image doesn’t appear. From what I can see, it’s failing a lot, and it’s quite disappointing. This never happened with the Phone (2), and I’ve already reported it too.

I don’t changed the language from Polish to English, but the layout is the same, so I hope that’s not a problem.

RuudHesp would be good if the glyph notifications stayed on rather than just flashed up for a second, have to be staring at your phone to see the glyph flash. could cycle through the essential notifications you receive that have been set up.

Hi All,

Me and my friends have made it a habbit to call out 1337 whenever the time is 13:37. So I’ve made a simple icon that shows 1337 whenever someone shouts it out in de chat (aiming for everyone calling it out within that one minute).

Sadly this icon only flashes on and off rather than stay on for a while. If I don’t use a custom icon the notification stays on for longer. No idea why that is… Anyone else with the samen issue?

Hello.It worked for me with a simple icon image. I only had to use one website to invert the color and another in case I downloaded it in an inappropriate format like SVG. It works for me and it’s simple.

I might be missing something but selecting a custom icon in the essential notifications rule doesn’t work.

I would love to know if I’m just missing something. I can’t download the glyph composer, it says I’m on the wrong version.

This is my first post so sorry if I missed a rule.

To create nice-looking icons, I drew black-and-white 25×25 pixel images (which is the actual matrix size), then upscaled them to 100×100 (because there’s currently a minimum image size restriction for the matrix) using the nearest neighbor method, and applied them manually. On the matrix, they look exactly as I drew them in pixel art — no distortion.

I made a few for some messagers and Pokémon apps 😅
