UPDATE - Below issue has been addressed!
I have finally cracked it by trial & error. I needed to make 2 changes as below:
- Order of rules matters. I have reversed the order. The specific rule (phone rule with specific contact numbers) is below the general rule (phone rule for all contacts).
- I removed the contact “unknown” from the general phone rule. So, no contact selected for this rule, just the app selection (phone) and the event within this app (missed call).
With above tweaks, when a specific contact calls me when the phone is flipped down, I get an incoming call animation on the glyph matrix and when the call goes into a missed call status, the specific icon that I have selected for the rule shows up and stays lit in a glyph matrix.
When any other person calls me (either unknown number or the person in my contacts but not added to above rule), then I get an incoming call animation on the glyph matrix (it shouldn’t, but I can live with that), however, when the call goes into a missed call status, the specific icon that I have selected for this generic rule shows up and stays lit in a glyph matrix.
Bottom line, when I have a missed call when the phone is in a flipped mode, I can differentiate between which are the important ones (specific contacts added in the rule) and which are not (unknown numbers or not so important ones from my contacts).

Hi,
Looks like a bug to me.
I have a first rule for app “Phone” with certain contacts selected for Incoming & Missed calls. I have a second rule for the same app (Phone) for all “unknown” callers for Missed calls only.
First rule works fine as expected. However, when unknown caller calls me when the phone is in a flipped state, the Glyph Matrix flashes light for incoming calls (unexpected behavior as I have not selected Incoming calls in Rule #2). Also, when the call from unknown caller goes to a missed call state, the Glyph icon that I have selected in Rule #2 does not show nor does it stay lit (unexpected behavior again, as Rule #2 is set for Missed Call event with a specific Glyph icon).
Any thoughts/ideas/pointers would be highly appreciated!
PS : I can still live with the first issue where glyph matrix lights up for incoming calls from unknown numbers. It is the second issue that I need to fix asap. This is where missed calls from unknown numbers do not show Glyph icon at all. So, when the phone is flipped, I have no idea that there is a missed call out there from an unknown number, until of course I turn the phone to see its primary screen.
PS #2: Attaching screenshots for both the rules. Rule1 where things are working as expected. Rule2 where things aren’t working as expected.
