Hi! My Essential Notification icon is showing up on the Glyph Matrix even though Glyph lights are set to “off”.

Even though the Glyph Matrix is turned off, when one of the essential notifications is received, the icon I’ve chosen for them still appears on the Glyph Matrix. Is this something intentional, or am I doing something wrong?

I only have a single “rule”, direct WhatsApp messages from a single contact.

Same goes to me.

Sometimes it will show sometime it will not.

Usually i wont see the screen before i check whether the Glyph light is on or not.

Now even though the notification is fall under essentials notification from the screen but the matrix wont light up.

Its very dissatisfied.

And the WhatsApp looks like unable to utilise with this Phone 3. A lot of bugs such as long waiting time to send messages, sticker load very slow, keyboard lagging when changing emoji keyboard.

Hi All,

I am using NP3 for a few days now.

I have set notification icon for my wife for both normal message and for WhatsApp.

I also set icon for my friends group in WhatsApp.

I observed the following:

Whenever I get a message in friends WhatsApp group, i can see the custom icon. It is working fine.

In case of the rule i set for my wife, whenever she sends normal message i see the custom icon, but not when she sends WhatsApp message.

The essential notification rules need some refinement.

Annasarp That suggests that your friends WhatsApp rule was created first , then your wife’s rule has been created. Since you do not have regular message rule for your friends that explains your wife’s rule prevails for regular messages. Unfortunately, your friends WhatsApp rule prevails over your wife’s one if it was created before your wife’s rule.

Try deleting both, then creating your wife’s rule first and your friends rule second.

From what I’ve experienced, Essential notifications MUST be in order. The most importants are in the bottom, the less important on top.

Let’s say you want your wife to have a special icon, and other WhatsApp contact have a generic icon.

Set up a rule for your wife FIRST. Than, set a rule for other WhatsApp contact.

Your wife will be in the bottom, other contacts on top.

I dunno why, but bottom rules are check first.

Works for me 🙂

I just noticed this issue when i’m trying to take pictures of myself using the Glyph Mirror. I raised my phone angled at 45 degrees upward facing the back camera to get better lighting. When I try to press the Glyph Button, it does not work since it’s almost opposite of the phone facing down.

Is this the same with you guys? Please let me know. Thank you.

My essential notification doesn’t work properly. It doesn’t shows the picture or emoji I want it to show. Rather it shows one particular emoji everytime. What do I do?

One thing I’m going to miss about the Nothing Phone 1 is that I could easily check my phone’s charge level when I put it on charge; I just moved it around a bit and Glyph would tell me. Now, with the Nothing Phone 3, the Glyph Matrix interface doesn’t respond at all; it would be great if they could add something to it. Also, the animation that plays when Flip to Glyph is activated is very simple; a more detailed animation would also be nice.

It would be great if the Dot Matrix felt more intuitive—almost like a Tamagotchi. Something that gives the impression there’s a little soul inside the device. For example, when you’re on a call, the Dot Matrix could show a visualization so everyone can instantly see that you’re talking on your Nothing Phone.

Hello everyone,I recently got the Nothing Phone 3, with the new Glyph Matrix on the back and it gave me an idea.

Imagine using the Glyph Matrix as a simple navigation indicator: you enter your route in Google Maps, then flip your phone face down and keep the display off. On the Glyph Matrix, a clear arrow would light up and always point in the direction of your next turn or destination. This would act as a low-power navigation guide without needing to unlock or look at the main screen.
