First off congratulations on the nothing 3, I waited for this phone for a long time I almost got the 3a but I sat on my hands in anticipation.
I’m not going to be complaining I feel this is constructive criticism and I’m just putting out thoughts into the ether, and I didn’t know where this post should be placed.
I’ve had my phone for about 2 weeks and I don’t use the glyph matrix stuff much but in my time of using it personally I’ve noticed things I would love to see.
The ability to rotate the glyph, not all of us put the phone screen down with the charging port facing us the ability to rotate the matrix 90⁰ or have it automatically rotate with the gyro or manually for certain toys would be great.
A lift to glyph or similar type of action, picking up the phone to see the time because you think you’ve overslept while trying to find the button isn’t easy in the dark and nobody likes being shot in the face with a bright screen before work.
Essential notifications are good, it would be great to have a scheduled profile or ability to group certain rules.
E.G; 22:00 - 03:00 set brightness to the lowest setting, enable lift to glyph enable gyro.
Or work profile set glyphs to 90⁰ disable toy xyz.
The setup UI for making rules is counter intuitive adding a contact you “add new” but press X to close the window after adding a contact. I’m a dummy and have had a few times I feel dumber because I’ve added someone and forgot it’s X to close instead I hit add new again, simply adding someone and auto closing so I get lost in that part of the UI. maybe a split button for closing instead of a small X at the top.
The rule part of the UI feels like an extra project that got thrown into the OS at the last minute (I’m sorry dev team no hard feelings)
We need a glyph editor!! Please!
Adding images is clunky and icons have to be a certain size it’s just clunky and horrible and desperately needs improving.
25 × 25 box tap the dot to set that led, double tap for 50% brightness you get the idea, maybe allow us to fine tune imported icons this way too.
I was in touch with support recently due to screen burn yes it does happen, I personally expect it to happen but please just allow me the ability to reduce “white” or lower it’s brightness alone or set a grey colour especially for the notification bar where I know I will have burn and please allow me to turn off the battery icon.
I know it sounds like I don’t like this device but I actually like the phone I’ve noticed some things where I feel the price doesn’t reflect the quality.
Turn your screen off and look at the panel with the sun shining on it and you’ll see what I mean or watch YouTube or similar with max brightness and you’ll get screen burn if you aren’t mindful of how to manage brightness VS black areas.
The real thing is I don’t see anyone else in the market putting out a phone like this, the case and protector are great thing the design is unique enough you know it’s a nothing phone but not outlandish and it will blend in.
I’m using all the recommendations given with charging in the hopes this phone will last as long as my old OnePlus which went EoL and no updates to OS.
