Customisation Tips for my CMF Phone 1 & Dialer Alternatives

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for suggestions on how to make my CMF Phone 1 look and feel more unique and visually appealing. If you have any favourite customisation tricks… like must-try trusted launchers, icon packs, widgets, wallpapers, or theme settings, please share your recommendations.

Also, I’m not a fan of the plain Google Dialer that comes pre-installed. Has anyone successfully switched to a different dialer on the CMF Phone 1? Which apps would you suggest, and are there any steps or caveats I should know about (e.g., special permissions, integrations with contacts, issues with call recording)?

TRRanganath Download the official Nothing Icon Pack app from the Play Store to elevate your experience. Pair it with apps like N Calc and Noting, which are inspired by Nothing OS. For calling, I highly recommend Voidcaller it’s superior to N Dial.

You won’t need any third-party launchers, as the Nothing Launcher is the best choice. It offers a premium feel, and if you haven’t updated it yet, make sure to do so for a smoother performance on your device.

If you appreciate minimalism, consider setting a solid black wallpaper. It looks fantastic and truly enhances the overall aesthetic. Trust me, you’ll love it.

Hi! I’m a huge fan of N Dial. I also used N Keyboard for a while but I had to ditch it to use my banking apps. They make my CMF1 feel great! Such a good piece of hardware (minus the poor quality screen protector.)

CMF1_hacker Oh? N Keyboard? I’ve actually heard about that for the first time. Sounds interesting! I’m currently using N Dial, but honestly, I feel like something’s lacking. It’s a bit laggy for me, and sometimes the person on the other end can’t hear my voice properly… Have you faced that too?

anonymous0 Official Nothing Icon Pack app? Is the app’s name “Nothing icons”? I’m using that for my app icons and it’s wonderful! As for N Calc, I didn’t really like it much, just felt like the default calculator is good enough for my needs. I’m currently on N Dial but I’m not really satisfied with it either, so I’ll definitely check out Voidcaller!

Also, I did update my apps and honestly wasn’t planning to switch launchers since I love the Nothing OS! So simple, minimalistic, and neat!

TRRanganath N Keyboard was my fav and it’s all open source but as it’s no through GPS, my banking apps won’t allow it. I have the same issue with N Dial on my CMF1 but I think it’s a CMF1 issue as I used Android transfer and transferred all my apps to my NP3 and I haven’t had a single issue with N Dial. It works correctly the first time after restart on the CMF1 then I usually spend all day walking between buildings and my phone is switching between WiFi, 4g and 5g constantly and N Dial doesn’t work any more, so I have to restart my CMF1 for it to work. Google Phone is ugly so I ditched it and didn’t test it. No issues on the NP3 at all. Maybe the ROM is more optimised?

TRRanganath N Dial has a new update so may be do check that out again. For any lags you can always clear the cache and restart the device. These bugs will come with any dialer since they are system based apps and created by third party developers. Thats why both us and Void team try our best to fix the bugs so all the users can use these apps without any major flaws. But android being android and google as strict as it is, one can only do so much. As for other apps, N Calc update is worked upon so you might see that in the future and Noting Pro is lined up too. Many surprises coming for the community.

Ali Fakhruddin can you add auto call record??? Sorry for asking this because i didn’t follow other Ndial discussion…

JP Call recording was restricted by google for third party apps after Android 13. So we cant actually have that built in, may be we pay google for some fees related to that. But I dont see that happening anytime soon since all our apps for now are free and no ads. So lets see what the future holds.

Ali Fakhruddin I roll with some Chinese ROMs (Xiaomi.EU) on my other phone and I get both card recording and entry card saving using NFC. Hilariously, I use that more and never pay for anything except with physical card. I’m old school.

The funny thing is UK law, as it NOT illegal to record without notifying the other party. However, paying that recording for a third-party is illegal. (there may be some leeway with commission of a crime.)

JP Every phone company with their default dialer will have this feature. Except for third party dialers or big companies like TrueCaller etc.
