i use samsung akg type c wired earphones( has inbuilt dac) with nothing phone 2 and i couldn't get any audio

Today I got bad news. I can’t connect my NP 3a Pro to my expensive Hi-Fi system. This phone can’t recognize USB connection with DAC. I try everything. And solution is not existing. This “special feature” was have ALL Nothing Phones. And it’s deep in system. When you try to connect to PC, phone ask password to deliver data. That’s cool. Very cool. BUT. This security mechanic blocking you connection to DAC. Maybe anyone have solution? I think not))

Recently I bought the Nothing 3a, and I was using Headphone zone’s USB DAC to connect with IEM, When I play the song from Spotify or from local storage, song was playing and it was working fine when I was using the mobile, but the problem starts when I turn off the mobile, while mobile is turned off suddenly my IEM stops the song after few minutes with some screech sound, It was only happens with DAC, I tried normal USB to Jack 3.5mm cable, it was working fine in that.

I tried turning off sleep optimisation, as I thought it was due the power consumption reduces when I turn off the screen but even-though it is turned off, the issue persists.

Does anybody facing this issue?? Have any idea how to resolve it?

NarendranKT I’m facing disconnection just after a few seconds of playback with the slightest movement of the device.

I’m using a USB-C cable with a built-in DAC on my Nothing Phone 3a (Nothing OS 3.1, Android 15), and there’s an issue where audio playback stops immediately when the screen turns off — either manually or after the screen timeout. As soon as I wake the screen, the audio resumes.

What I’ve tried:

Disabled battery optimization for music apps

Made sure “Disable USB audio routing” is off

Tested across multiple apps — same result

This doesn’t happen on other Android phones. It seems like the phone is cutting power to the USB audio device when the screen goes off.

Is anyone else facing this? Any known fix or workaround? Hoping Nothing can address this in a future update. It’s a major issue for those using USB audio.

kiranvarma_sddOSnS1mX you can’t fix this. This is security feature. How I know? Just think. You can’t transfer file to you PC without lock screen password. It First time when I found this FEATURE on android devices.

When you plug DAC a phone can’t recognize them. In notifications centre NO ONE notifications. That means your phone block this type connection. It’s system.

PLEASE SOFTWARE ENGINEERS ADD SUPPORT USB DAC WITHOUT SECURITY PROTECTION.

1 - are passive usb-c to 3.5 mm converters supported on the cmf phone 2 pro?

2 - can i stream lossless audio from apple music?

3 - i like a nice dark sound profile, is eq possible with passive usb>3.5 devices?

i want to spend as little as possible on a mobile dac, recommendations welcome 🙂

Just a quick heads-up. I bought Fiio KA11 (came with the latest firmware) and it works wonderfully with Nothing Phone (2a).

I recently bought Fiio JD1 Type C. This earphones when used with any other phones I have work well but when I try it with my Nothing 2A, the sound quality drops too much.

Someone please help. Is some software patch going to solve this issue or it is the issue with in-built DAC?

Using nothing phone 3A. Phone doesn’t have a headphone jack so I use the Type C port for audio with my IEM (KZ ZSN pro X) now, if I plug in my IEM via the USB port and listen to music on Spotify the audio stops working after 10-15 sec but the song doesn’t stop. First I thought the issue is with the IEM so I checked on another phone and the IEM was working flawlessly. Anyone else having this issue? How to fix this? I’m all ears.

YouTube music and YouTube work fine only issue is with Spotify

I’ve been using the Nothing Phone 3a for around 12 days, and I’m facing a consistent issue when using my JCALLY JM7 DAC (3.5mm to Type-C) with Spotify.

The audio distorts or crackles mostly when the screen turns off, but occasionally it happens even while the screen is on.

I’ve tested the same DAC on two other devices (Redmi Note 10 and Samsung M21) and it works flawlessly there.

Other apps like local music players and video streaming apps work perfectly on the Nothing Phone 3a — this issue seems to occur only on streaming platforms like Spotify.

It feels like a Nothing OS audio or power management issue that affects USB DACs during streaming.

If anyone else is facing this or knows a fix, please share.

Hoping Nothing addresses this in a future update.

Hello, I’m using Hidizs ST2 pro headset (USB-C, built-in DAC), but since I have my 3a Pro, I can’t listen music properly as the sound cuts when the screen of my phone goes to standy. Anyone already experience this ? I didn’t have this behaviour on my previous phone (samsung S20 FE). Thanks for your support !
