First of all, thank you very much for the work. I truly believe that Nothing OS is the best out there. The AI with Essential is deeply integrated into the OS in a subtle yet useful way, rather than being full of gimmicks here and there that often feel unnecessary. I think this approach sets Nothing apart and better aligns with what users are actually looking for.
That said, I believe Essential can go even further, and I’d like to humbly offer some initial feedback here.
1. Add the ability to take scrolling screenshots (for longer texts or images that don’t fit on one screen) using the Essential Key.
2. Conversely, add the option to delete the screenshot after the summary is created in Essential Space, for those who want to save storage space.
3. Add a search function in Essential Space, to make it easier to find memories, summaries, or thoughts.
4. The first section in Essential Space is limited to just one memory, which isn’t very compelling. It would be much more interesting to have a holistic view of different memories, and to offer a grouped view of various summaries. At the very least, having this per collection would be really useful and engaging.
5. Regarding the AI in Essential Search, it should run locally as much as possible and ensure strong privacy protection. So far, only Apple has really taken a stand on this. I think Nothing could gain a lot by doing the same, since people who care about their data will tend to go with Apple due to the lack of better alternatives. Integrating open-source LLMs into Essential would be a great move.
6. By the way, I still don’t have access to it—when will it be available in Japan and Europe? One more thing: the Google Search Bar doesn’t really match the rest of the OS’s style. It would be great to redesign it.
7. Slightly off-topic, but of course we’re still waiting for a community platform to share camera presets, widgets, audio EQ profiles, and now Glyph Matrix Toy.
Thanks again, and I hope these personal reflections will resonate!
