The keynote have passed with the announcement of Nothing’s smartphone for this summer with Nothing OS and its upcoming eco-system.

For now, the community is riding the wave of the event, on the various speculations of what the future smartphone will be.

But I think we also need to think about the Nothing community. How will the site and the Discord evolve? Because when I read various comments, especially on Twitter, everyone wants to join. That’s great, but we’ll have to manage that flow.

For example, on Discord, we have doubled the number of members in ⅘ days. We just passed 1000 members, and I think this is just the beginning.

I’m opening this thought so that we can discuss it here, while we are still in “small committee”.

  • Will the site-forum be opened sparingly?
  • Or will it remain “private” with invitations or co-optations?
  • Or will it remain small for some time to stabilise its base and then open up wide?
  • Will the discussions be mainly on Discord?
  • What are the plans for the evolution of Nothing’s 2 communication entities with the community?

These are just a few of the questions that can be asked if you want to get involved.

I think and I imagine that in the minds of the staff this has been thought out, but maybe this topic can bring or raise some ideas, questions.

Thanks for your participation.

    Sib64 Hey Sib,

Some of my thoughts on your points above, based on my current understanding:

Sib64 Will the site-forum be opened sparingly?

Yes - as of right now, the community remains invite-only. Our latest members were either chosen by the PU’s after completing an online survey or cherrypicked from the Discord server. This reflects a commitment to only opening the doors to those who demonstate a good amount of passion and willingness to make meaningful contributions to the community.

In addition, you should expect that anyone who takes part in the upcoming community investment round will likely be offered membership here too.

Sib64 Will the discussions be mainly on Discord?

The aim of the Discord server is to utilize the immediate nature of communication that it facilitates. Short, quick, chatty conversation between users and staff, with the all additional benefits of voice channels, announcements, and handy bots. In contrast, the community forum is all about deep, rich communication, a place for passionate people to slow down and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Sib64 What are the plans for the evolution of Nothing’s 2 communication entities with the community?

I’m sure the great minds at Nothing have this all planned out. There is no doubt that both spaces are going to grow exponentially this year which means we should all expect change. We’re all here to contribute and shape these spaces together, so any thoughts/feelings/opinions shared on how either platform is used are incredibly valuable 🙏

Thank you for your answer Rob and sincerely, the questions I asked, goes exactly in same way with your answers.

Specifically, the main topic raised, is how to address the rise of the two communication entities we have, in a collaborative way with the great minds of Nothing and the “core” members of its communication spaces.

And as you write, and I think the same, hence the creation of this topic, that all ideas good or not so good should be shared so that we can extract the best for the whole.

      Hi,
I’ll come back to this part, @Rob ⚡️

Indeed, following the 2nd round of investment, the exponential influx of Investors is going to happen in the next few days, maybe ⅔ weeks.

Rob, you are Head Mods on Discord, with @Kastello , I think you are looking into this with the Mods team and the Staff, especially @Rudi , could you tell us a bit more?

      1. How, even if the forum remains “private”, do you plan to make it evolve?
      2. How will it be organised?
      3. Can you tell us a bit more or not yet?

      Thanks for your answer.

Sib64 Hey Sib, it will take a little longer than you are predicting for those members to be invited here. The community funding campaign needs to end first, followed by the cool-off period and finally, an unknown amount of time to process and invite those new investors.

Whilst this space will remain private, you can be sure that other opportunities for new members to join will become apparent, it was never going to be a space ONLY for investors.

Rudi has been working hard to define the evolution of this space - whether he wishes to share his plans, well … that’s his choice!

What is it that you yourself are hoping to see happen here?

          Rob ⚡️

          Thanks for your reply Rob.

I was very close to deleting my post as I thought it was too early for that and as you say, Rudi is working hard on this project and will reveal it to us, if he wishes of course, in due course.

I have some ideas, but these could only be stated once the evolution of the forum is revealed by Rudi. Some of them might be valid, others might not. Since only the staff knows what the evolution will be.

I know you are all very busy with the investment period that is going on at the moment and I admit that writing this post is inappropriate at this time.

Thank’s Rob for taking the time to respond, I appreciate really.

@Sib64 some good discussion points in here and some similar questions that I had being raised. Looking forward to the evolution of the forum as we, the community, continue to grow in numbers 🦾
